Please post some photos so we can see what is going on. Hold off on transplanting until you know what is wrong with your trees.

I read online that NAPA 8822 breaks down after a while but check that out yourself. Don't know about the others, but suspect they would work as long as they are about 1/4 inch in size.

The pH of your water is just right for citrus - do not change the pH.

Here are the two patients. They are currently resting in a moist peat only media. Not sure if the pygantic did this or the aggressive feeling of biotone. I pulled them out of the biotone mixed soil after the took a 3 day turn for the worst. Hope I'm not to late.

How long have thy been in peat only? What were they in before? I suspect that they were overwatered. They should be taken out of the peat and put into the gritty mix right away. That will take care of the overwatering problem because gritty does not retain too much water.

They have been in the peat for the past two days. Going in the gritty tonight. Shall I charge the gritty mix with fert solution or wait a week to fertilize?

Wait at least a week to start fertilizing and start with a weak solution then. Let them recover. Interesting that someone is shipping citrus plants at this time. Is it common to sell citrus bare root?

From what I understand they pull them from the pots they are in and ship them bare/wrapped to reduce costs .

The pictured trees have been with me for three years.

What actual real life volume (cubic inch) pots are recommended ?

John, where in MD are you? I'm in Annapolis! I'm sorry about your trees. I don't know exactly bc i have city water, but isn't softened water bad for citrus? It may be what Vladimir said - overwatering.

And make sure whatever pot you use had LOTS of drainage holes. As for the size, I think there are guidelines about it, but not sure. Who is shipping you the trees bare-root?

Looks pretty dark in that room!! Peat is acidic by it self, make sure you don't go below 6.

So opti dry does have larger particles than 8822. There's some that don't go through a 3/16 screen but the 1/8-3/16 pieces are plenty.

I'm trying to figure out how often I need to water the gritty mix. I watered today for the first time since Thursday (Sunday) Does the mix absorb any water ? I watered today and it just dumped fight in thru the pots I have to come up with something to catch more of the run out. Any ideas in watering ? Kept inside 68 degrees forced air heat. I didn't do the wooden dowel test.

What type of lighting is recommended ? Do I have to go hydroponic store shipping ? Light spectrum in kelvin or Led color output ? How many lumens ?

Gritty does absorb water. I find the best way to test if watering is needed is to dig down with my fingers a few inches and feel if it feels moist. If it is moist, don't water.

The water will pour right through the pot when you water. Be sure to water evenly over the entire surface of the gritty.

Check the pH of the water you use for watering with a cheap pH testing kit like the kind used for testing pool water or aquarium water.
If your tap water is above pH 6.5, add
enough vinegar to adjust it to about pH 6.5. You will only have to add give or
take 1 Tb/gal. So, you will be watering with a mix of vinegar and Foliage Pro
every time you fertilize.

Does the tree get any sunlight?

They get 4-6. They did well previous years. The combination of them being unhappy in the bigger pots (held to much water) the Meyer lemon was in decline, i didn't want to transplant this time of year it was necessary. The Meyer didn't have any hair roots. I'm hoping it comes back The other two have nice roots they are drooping from lack of water in thinking. I want to supliment their light
