Sorry for your loss. We lost our puppy of 14 years in September. You could probably put a small table there but with it being in a high traffic area the best thing is to just probably remove the bowls.

I would leave the space empty -- it will look fine as there is already some decor there. I am kind of concerned about the safety of that hanging cord.

Could you run it along the wall and baseboard, using some cord channels? If so, then you'd have to make it longer. I too am sorry to hear about your pet. My cat is very ill, right now, and it's heartbreaking.

How about putting a picture of him in that niche ? Sorry, it's awful losing a loved one, human or pet.

Then I would leave it empty. Maybe you could put a picture of her in the little nook instead of the bottles.
