Do you prefer fresh interior paint or stylish new wallpaper? And why?

Definitely paint

Nothing beats well-chosen wallpaper

Paint. I think of wallpaper as something 1980s or prior. That said, I think there are some very limited uses for it, and I've seen some pretty/contemporary wallpapers, but I'd need a budget that allowed me to change it out quickly. I, and most people, don't have that ability. Give me the paint. :-)

Wallpaper today is better than it used to be. It can be a major WOW moment, bringing in color and drama, or it can be subtle and textured. It's a great way to bring another layer into a room and make it feel special.

Nowadays you can find a lot of nice wallpapers.

However, it depends on the style of your room and the pattern you choose.

Paint is a safer choice !

All depends on the client, but I like both. Often use Grass cloth as it is timeless, subtle and adds texture. Paper is great in a foyer, the pattern and/or colors tie adjoining rooms together. Also like a bold paper in a powder room. You are in there a short amount of time so make it interesting.

Wallpaper can be absolutely stunning in a space if scaled properly to fit the room. Our clients opted for this beautiful wallpaper for their foyer but were also satisfied with their interior paint color selection for their master bedroom.

We rent this house. But there is wall paper in our half bath, I hate it so much, especially since it's at least close to 8 years old. No to wallpaper! Leave that in the 1900s! Lol!

Why can't I have both? Which is what I'm planning on. I'd love to wallpaper the powder room with a "wow, didn't expect that gorgeous wallpaper" in the home we don't yet have. And maybe an accent wall here and there. Which is something we're considering on a half wall, under my plant shelf where we are now.

I think it depends on the style of the home and the preferences of the client. Both paint and wallpaper can do much to add to the beauty and identity of any given room.

tooky58 the point is you can have both. If you keep a consistent color pallet running through your common rooms it will work.

Awesome tips and suggestions here! I like the point made above by @tooky58 about being able to include both as well. Paper can make a very attractive accent.
