Kitchen Cabinets

Should I have the cabinets painted a shade of white to make the kitchen more marketable as we get ready to list it for sale?

I would not paint them. Your kitchen is lovely as is. A quality professional paint job is pretty expensive. A cheap DIY paint job would be perceived as a detriment.

It's a pretty kitchen, I would not paint. Although, why is there no hardware?? That I would invest in. and not just plain old Home Depot knobs. Something decent.

I would consider updating pendants maybe with new copper look. Otherwise very nice.

Your kitchen is pretty. I agree with Beth that you may want to consider installing hardware on the cabinetry.

I don't know I think copper is to personal of taste not stream line enough...I don't think anything would stop someone from purchasing this home with this kitchen...they will personalize it themselfs..just be sure to keep things very neutral and with simple decor...I do agree with Beth add some simple brushed nickel hardware..but surely not necessary. Good Luck I don't think you will have any problem!

I agree with Beth, I wouldn't paint them. I would defintely get hardware, you can get it very inexpensive from Amazon.

I wouldn't paint them....these look much nicer than painted cabinets. Room looks warm and inviting. I agree about adding hardware.

No! I agree about adding hardware but you don't even have to do that. New owner could add what they want.

Why not just paint the Island a cream color to break things up a little and because it's less expensive a project?

Hardware and under counter lighting is all it needs to be warm and appealing. Lighting is huge for staging. It changes a room's ambiance dramatically. Check your color temperature in your bulbs, and make sure that they are all warm. Use LED, at a level above what the fixture is rates for incandescent. If your fixture is rated 40W, put 60W LED equivalent in it. The rating is about temperature, and LED burns 100°+ cooler, so you can ''overlamp'' with no negative impact on the fixture when using LED.

Thank you for the great advice. If I would add hardware, do you have specific recommendations?

Something clean lined and transitional. Like Amerock's Mulholland line.

No paint! Hardware would be nice, but not necessary. The buyers can choose their own.

I typically hate dark cabinets, but I think this is a lovely kitchen. Hardware would be nice, but the new owners will pick what they want.

I LOVE white kitchens - I've painted my cabinets or put in new white ones in every house I've ever lived in - and I absolutely would not paint these cabinets. They're beautiful. Hardware would be nice, but even that isn't completely necessary.

I would lose the corbels if possible, that hood is a bit disproportionate with the stove, it makes the stove look out of place. Having larger cabinets on each side of the stove would make the kitchen look much better and more professionally designed... not to mention it would add more cabinet space.

    Good luck.

I've had the finger-molded doors, and they're ok too.

It's a lovely kitchen. Wouldn't do a thing. I'd save your money and simply repaint any house walls that no longer look fresh...

The expense will never be recouped. The cabinets look great, the prospective buyer may redo the whole kitchen or paint them if they desire.
