White on white on white, HELP!

I love white. We are building new house and I want white walls, white trim, white ceilings. I get the ceiling in flat sheen, walls in eggshell, and trim in gloss so I have been told. The wall I have picked out SW Alabaster. But do I do the same for the trim and ceilings or a different shade of white?

You could but I wouldn't. If you use the same white on the ceiling, it will appear darker than on the walls. Take your paint chip and hold it above your head and then out in front of you and compare the difference. If you are going to have some molding you want to show off, it looks better in a slightly whiter shade than your walls to highlight it. Also, not sure who told you to get gloss finish trim, but that finish is really hard to pull off because the gloss finish shows any imperfections. In terms of eggshell walls, that's a personal preference.

I am a huge fan of BM Matte or SW Velvet finish for walls. The SW Eggshell is a bit glossy for walls for my taste.

Go for it!!! white on white on white is beautiful!! the result will be stunning I assure you!!!

Yes! Ceiling has to be flat, cause any shin will reveal tiny mistakes in construction

Go with one white with egg shell for everything else! It will be beautiful! Try Benjamin Moore OC-121 mountain peak. The only few default paint we go with.

We had most of our house painted white last year. Used the same colour on walls, ceilings and trim, just different sheens. Let's face it; choosing the right white is tricky enough without making things more complicated! We're very happy with the results!

I love all white interiors but I too love matte paint for walls in fact i did my whole house in matte finish including trim i love it

Just wondered if you ever posted any "after" pics... we just had a few rooms painted and I was surprised to find out after painting bigger swatches, that the Alabaster was a touch dingy looking on my walls-- not enough natural light I suppose. We have sad windows, not nearly enough of them. The Alabaster was my fave in the pics I looked at online, but I guess that just goes to show how true it is that whites can really vary from place to place. We went with SW Snowbound and love it! I'd love to see your after...
