Non HE washers

We're selling our house and the buyer wanted the Washer/Dryer so we have the opportunity to dump our Maytag Bravos HE set and get something that actually uses water and cleans clothes - rather than just pretending to wash. With that said - we're looking for top load non-HE washers - but many places don't tell you if it is or isn't HE. Manufacturers seem to have caught on and added fake agitators to HE machines, but we're looking for non non non no HE - none - ever! Recommendations? Good place to shop online that discloses the truth?

Look at Speed Queen. Their newer machines have an eco wash setting but you don't have to use it. The other cycles are full fill. They clean and rinse really well, but your detergent/washing chemicals will be a big part of the equation. They are rugged and we own about a dozen we abuse in our business. Never a repair and the oldest one is about or over ten years old. We did have a repair on mine at home because someone left nails in their pocket. The repairman said they are some of the least expensive to repair.

Here are the manuals. Reading them will give you a good idea of how they work

This is a comparison of the control panel of the two electronic models. Our business partner just bought the top of the line model.

wekick...thanks for posting the two models...I have decided to purchase a SQ TL electronic model, but I can't decide if it is worth the money to get the top of the line model...is it worth the extra $200 for a couple of extra buttons? Thanks!

It's not just a couple buttons ....

4 water levels vs. 3
4 soil levels (wash time) vs. 3
4 wash temp choices vs. 3
Third Rinse option
Soak option
Favorite cycle option
Quick Wash cycle
Bulky cycle
Whites cycle
Delay Start option

You have to decide if the additional features are useful to your needs.

I had the same thoughts when I got my SQ 542. Yes it did cost more but I have all the options should I choose them. So for me it's a no brainer. I would get the more options one. They are there if you should need them, which you more than likely will. Just my $.02.

Also, is it true that the top model has a control lock on the buttons, but the others do not? That might be a nice feature since I have small kids.
