Finally have saved enough money for a master bath reno in 17-year old home. Only to learn that contractor is afraid the weight of tile and a freestanding tub will be unsupportable in the portion of the room that sits over the garage. Are there are types of lightweight tile, tile alternatives, etc. that are on the market? The remainder of the second floor is real wood flooring so don't wish to butt that up to a wood look laminate or vinyl. Would love something that has the appearance of tile.

Now I understand why the builder originally installed carpet in that bathroom. And it really needed to be outta there about 16 years ago!

Any suggestions?
