I was just thinking about how to take Roberto on the journey. That sounds simple and effective.

My only concern is mr toats blasting the a/c. I imagine the styrofoam cup will help insulate him but I wonder if it'll be enuf to keep his water from getting cold?

Do you have cup holders in back seat? Or, if he needs to go out of reach of dammit and willie, one of those Starbucks 4 cup boxes in a box....not a cooler, I think even a Beta fish could use up the oxygen!

Do you mean like one of these?

There is a cup holder on the back of the center console but there's also air vents all over the back seat area too and willie will need a/c too :/ I think the whole car would be chilly. I usually wrap myself in a blanket the whole trip! Maybe lay a mini blanket over him? Or will that keep him from getting air?

Don't worry about AC,,the danger is overheating, so being cold is not an issue

Oh cool! That's good cause there won't be any worry of overheating. Thanks!

A larger container, like a large yoghurt container, might be the ticket. You'll want a lid with holes punched in the top so he doesn't jump out.

How far of a drive is it?

Reason I really like the coffee cup idea is because it will fit in the cup holder so he'll stay put and also cause it's styrofoam for a little insulation. It's like a 5 to 6 hr drive.

that's a short drive for a fish:) so no worries. My husband used to buy fish by mail. There are breathable bags used specifically for this

Toats, our Beta lived in a very small bowl...I think a venti sized cup will be fine.....I think the risk of death by getting knocked over is greatest...which is why I liked the cup holder concept...

if dammit is using the same transport, i would be more concerned about scooping. although i had a goldfish once, who bullied everyone even the cat.

How did the move go, Toats? Did you all make it there in one piece? :)

Did Roberto do well on the move?

    I was wondering the same.

Hey all! We made it safe and sound! Robert did just fine in his travel mug, no problem. He's happy and healthy in his tank now. We are just about all settled in now :)

Glad to hear that:) I hope you find a nice place there

Toats, I want to commission a knit critter from you...

...and your etsy shop is closed. :(

Wanna make me an armadillo for my Texas soon-to-be-grandbaby? :) And maybe a cactus?

    Sure!

Awesome! I was thinking about something maybe just a bit bigger than the bat you made... teddy bear size? LOL

And obviously, a washable yarn bc it's going to be drooled upon. :)

Ooh, I can't wait to see another toats creation!

Toats, I saw this video just now, and it make me lmao. It's another crab wielding "weapons," and would be fun to paint, fo sho! (It is using little sea anemones as defense pompons. LOL)

I miss the adventures of Toats :(
    Me too.

So do I. I'm assuming and hoping that she's so happy being with her befri after years of living in separate cities that she hasn't checked in.

I'm happy she's not on the Florida coast today...Stay safe, Toats!

    I miss you, too, Toats!

I thought of you last week when I spilled my glass of red wine, again. I think I need that painting of yours!

Sigh... Need a Dammit fix, at least!

Hey, Toats! My OH & I drove right by Vidalia on our way to Sea Island earlier this week. I didn't even know it was on the way! If it hadn't been a business thing I was going to try to e-mail and see if we could say hey, but it wasn't in the cards this time. Just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you. We all miss you...

We do indeed. I hope life is being wonderful to you, Toats.

Life just isn't the same without toats. Your energy and creative spirit are inspirational. And then there are the Damnit fixes... : )

I agree about toats. I really miss her too.

Indomom, that's a fun place for a business thing.

Toats, if you are seeing this thread, please stop in and say hi and give us a quick update just to let us know you are happy and well. Even if Houzz isn't where you want to hang out anymore, it would be such a pleasure to just know you are good.

    Yo! Toats!

My new kitteh, Batty, is about 8 mo. old. She's a rescue, has been with us a few months now, and she is still learning the world.

Tonight, while I was doodling on Christmas lights at the kitchen counter, she ran over and jumped onto my credenza. I wasn't paying attention at first, but realized she was being very quiet...

I moved the lamp that is temporarily there (bc her darn redneck ladder/cat tree is where the lamp is supposed to be!) to see what she was staring at...
    Yup. hahahahaha! You fooled her!
    In for the kill. LOL

She and Dammit would have great times together. :)

Mid yawn. Favorite nap place. :)

    She's such a cutie!

Too cute, rred! I sure hope toats sees this.
