Deciding what to do with my fireplace. The brick is a grayish color with exposed rocks and has a little bit of sparkle. It was built in the 60s and it looks pretty dirty. Should I try to clean it and if so how? If I do clean it and keep what should I do for the mantle? Could I paint the one I have and what color would match the brick? Should the mantle be up higher? I know I want to get rid of the pellet stove and put in electric or gas. Would appreciate any help I can get.
