We are working on curb appeal in our front yard for our 1950s house. The hardscape is completed and now need some plant/landscape advice. We will be getting rid of the orange tree on the right but keeping the Japanese maple at the left of the pic.

Ideally would love to plant a shade tree front of the house too. Suggestions welcomed!

We are located in the San Francisco area. The front yard gets full sun.
