I suggest you stay with the style as well as the cherry and lighten the room with color, fabrics, and mirrors. You have the height for a canopy or a corona over the bed which, in the right fabric will lighten the style of the bed. Use coordinating fabrics on a bench at the foot of the bed and upholstered chairs. A skirted dressing table will also lend lightness. I would caution against changing the style of the furniture or moving to light or painted dresser and nightstands. A deep yellow is a color that lends itself to 18th century, cherry, and lightness. Choose your fabrics first, then the wall color...easier to custom match paint than fabric. I would also stick with different textures or patterns in the same hues rather than mixing colors in the room due to size as well as purpose of the room. I hope this helps!
