HELP FOR STAIRCASE

- (I tried to turn picture but was unsuccessful). Looking for any ideas on how to change this horrible design in staircase. The wood planks are fine, its the color of the railing. Our entire condo association has same design. Its right in the middle of the living room and dining room ... not going anyway so I guess it should be made the focal point of the 1st floor .. since its not going anywhere! I think it should be dark color. I know that a complete design of the iron railing should be made but what if you are short on $$. Any thoughts?!
