My husband and I are fixing my mom's kitchen. We are keeping the top cabinet to cut cost and we have run into a dilemma. The cabinet used to have 4 old doors which are slender and the hinges were on the outside. The bar in the middle, as seen in the picture, used to have hinges on it but the bar only measures 1 inch. We want to use modern hinges on the inside but, my husband tells me the new hinges will not fit on the bar. He tells me there's 2 things we can do, either we build up that middle bar to fit modern hinges or we order two custom 19 inch wide doors. This is the first time either one of us has done this and I would really appreciate your recommendations. Do you think it would be better to keep the small doors or should we go with the wide doors?
