Hoya krinkle 8

Scrored a huge plant today! Does Hoya "Chelsea" come from this plant? There is a stem with leaves way smaller than the rest.

    Wow! That plant is huge!

Beautiful plant. Is it an Exotic Angel plant?

No, bought it at a family owned nursery. Most of their plants looked neglected so don't think they even knew how huge this plant had gotten. They did have small cuttings in 4" pots for $4 but it was a way better deal getting this huge plant. I paid $19.98 for it.....does the second pic look like Chelsea? Don't have one yet

Is there a variegated form of krinkle 8? I would love one if there is!

Yes, I think H. cv Chelsea originated from the Krinkle 8, if I remember right. I have never heard of a variegated form of either, but one may exist somewhere. If not, I'm sure one day there will be one. Love your great score n such a nice big plant. That variety likes to be kept in shade. Every time I have put one in high light, the leaves turned an ugly yellow or burned. The best looking one I had was in a very shaded area of the patio.

One of the big differences I find between the Chelsea and Krinkle 8 is the new leaves on Chelsea start out a pretty maroon or dark reddish color like some pubicalyx do. I suspect that may have been a parent plant or in the mix somehow.

Yeah, I think it was used for cuttings. Half of it is trimmed and the some stems are around 4' long....in going to trim the Chelsea looking stems and start a whole new plant.

Congratulations on your great find :-)

it does look more like a Krinkle 8 than Chelsea. I had an EA Chelsea that looked darker like a light burgundy and barely had dimples.

I love all the dimples of the Krinkle 8 and the beautiful green leaves.

The Krinkle 8 was my very first hoya. We were at a Holiday Inn in Springfield ILL at a meeting about 20 years ago and I saw this huge plant in a tub in the foyer and loved it! Went home and found it in a plant book. We went back the next year and some of the stems were so long they were being stepped on. I wanted a cutting so bad but was a chicken and wouldn't ask for one. When we got home the next day DH pulled a paper bag out of the car and handed it to me with a smile on his face. When I opened it I found 3 good sized pieces of the plant. He said rather than trim the stepped on pieces, they just turned the pot around and he was there when it was being turned and asked the maintenance man if he could have a couple of pieces and he said sure! That started my love of Hoyas!! Congratulations Lydia!! It's a great plant to have!

Awe what sweet husband!! I have one of those. We were at Lowe's today while they were receiving their cactus and succulents. Right away my husband asked them " hey, what are you going to do with those shelves when you're done!" well, they gave them to him. We then stopped at another Lowe's. Same thing. They were unloading the cactus and succulents. They have him the wooden shelves also!...I was so happy! I sure could use them! He is the best!

These are the shelves hubby got me from Lowe's. Already stored empty pots in one, 2 will go in the greenhouse and the last one will probably stay outside in full Sun with cactus. Plan to decorate it with suns and lizards :)

Great score! Is that what Costa Farms ships their plants on?

Altman plants I believe. They are made of cedar and are stapled together. My husband put in a few screws so they can last longer.

They were marking down the older plants while they were arraging the new shipment. Got these for $1 each

there are 2 that I paid full price. The monstrose cacti and that variegated one in the center.
