Color Scheme Quandary

Wondering if anyone has good color sense. Have been trying to resolve matching the exterior colors of our tudor house with the pool house/ garage in our back yard. Originally thought we'd go with Fiery Brown as the color for the wood trim on tudor as well as on pool house. But now that the project is finished- it seems too red. Also, the almond color of the porch columns (which matches the stucco) doesn't seem right, thinking we should have the entire front porch and columns painted white instead, but that wouldn't tie in to any of the other colors. We're in process of replacing the first floor windows with the "deep olive" Pella windows as on the second floor and rear of house, so thinking we'd like to keep that part the same to match the pool house which has the olive colored doors as well, but I can't seem to get everything to come together. This may just be too much to consider. My friends either say everything looks fine as is or don't feel comfortable going into it. Just can't seem to find anyone else to discuss it.

I wonder what would happen if you replaced all the almond with a medium-light greenish-gray that is a few shades lighter than the new windows. Your pool-house has almost no contrast, to get the house to look similar, you need to reduce the contrast of the stucco/timber/trim. White trim isn't going to help. Nice home. Reminds me of Cleveland/Shaker Heights area! (I miss NE Ohio...can ya tell?)

Yes, the second picture is the pool house. The third picture is the back of the tudor house.

What about painting the wood tudor trim olive to coordinate with the windows? Or a brown with olive undertones. I agree that the yellow "almond" and red "fiery brown" don't go with the brown and olive tones of your windows, brick, and roof.

AMN is right - Fiery brown is not the big problem - it will improve on trim color now and relate back to the brick, but the almond is too light. Test some gray-greens that will relate back to the windows.

You want something that reads mid-tone on the house, and that takes a darker color than you think - you might also test mountain road - seems to dark, but it would work too. These light almonds and whites always read white on an exterior - you have to deepen shade intensity for the outdoor color to read in the sunlight.

Another approach would be a camel tone - it won't clash with but won't connect to pool house as well or have the depth of tone - look at sw favorite tan - tan with a green undertone. http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6157-favorite-tan/ This I fear will turn muddy next to the fiery brown - the gray ones will do better for you.

ps find a matching shade to your windows to paint the column between each of them in the sunroom on the back of the house for a better look. Your stucco color above and below, and to the outside before trim but between the windows, match the pella olive tone.
