Is this a new build or remodel? Id go with a larger hood and windows, ditch open shelves and ditch the cabinets on that wall.

Have you considered adding a prep sink on island and all drawers on base?

Thanks for your response. This is a new construction. The windows are already in place at this point. We have a soffit above the cabinets which I haven't mentioned in the previous note.We are planning to add all drawers on the base. We haven't thought about the prep sink on the island.

What size is your cooktop? Hood should we 6" larger than cooktop

a prep sink would make the kitchen a bit easier to function. You have a large distance between fridge and sink. The prep sink would solve that issue.

how wide are your aisles? I would plan on 48" aisles on all sides.

Also how high are ceilings? Can you get rid of soffits? Or add moulding to them so they are more decorative

The size of the cook top we were considering is 36 inch with 42 inch hood.The height of the ceiling is 10 feet and accommodating for stacking shelves was adding more to the budget. We are going to add a molding. The distance between the island and the wall is about 45 inches.I like the idea of the prep sink. Let me try to incorporate it into the design.

@acm Thanks for your response. I like some of the ideas you've posted and will try to incorporate them.

I think you should seriously reconsider the soffit or at least look for pics of some you like and share with your contractor.
