As for the art - I would go with a large abstract painting on the wall behind the sofa - something soothing, yet filled with colorful accents ( a bit of pink/green/blue/white). Also, a couple of floor lamps on each side of the sofa.

I don't think the rug and chair work. I would look for a rug with a smaller scale pattern, somewhere between 2-5" repeat. A smaller pattern won't compete with the chair detail.

For drapes, you could put a rod across each window behind the sofa, but use full panels just on the outer sides, and leave the inner side open for a large piece of art. It would soften the windows and frame that area. You could use a simple shade underneath if needed for privacy. Then on the other two side windows you could use just shades or a combination of shades and drapes. If you want full panels on each side of the window behind the sofa, you will need to pull the sofa out from the wall. You could use a solid light colored fabric with a simple dark trim, or a darker color like your sofa. I wouldn't add more pattern there. For the side table between the chairs, I like the shape of the first option (aurora) but think it would look better with a glass or wood top.

How is this as an end table on either side of the sofa? Does it work?

You can do something very subtle that doesn't fight with the angles in the chair, yet is very elegant and contemporary.

@Mousaian Oriental Rugs are you saying the rug doesn't go with the chair?

I think there are better choices. There were several previous comments about the conflicting lines between the chair and the rug so I was offering some alternatives that would eliminate that conflict. The rug and the chair you pictured both have strong features, so a softer rug would work better with this chair.

Decorrokie, did you already buy the rug? You keep saying two chairs can you show us the chairs the way you have them in your room. It's hard to give an opinion about a table without seeing the chair arrangement. I know this is frustrating, the more info and pics you can give the houzzers the better everyone can help you.

@Mouasian a Designer in an earlier comment suggested this rug and I fell in love with it and ordered it. There was only one comment after the fact from niche interiors who said it was conflicting with the chair. I really love it and plan on keeping it. I really appreciate your advice though. Thank you!

Do these tables work? The cocktail table in front the sofa and the square end tables on either side of the sofa. The round table in between the two chairs. Where you see the one chair, just imagine there are two next to each other with the round table in between.

I personally think the round one is too busy for those chairs, I think you need something simple and elegant. Are you trying to go contemporary or traditional? Just to confirm your couch is navy right? Sometimes the monitors don't show the color accurately.

@bbbn27 thank you, I thought it might. I'd say I'm more transitional. The sofa isn't exactly navy but is a blue.

I'm just throwing at some ideas to get an idea of what you like.

What is going on the wall opposite the sofa? TV?

I would try centering the rug on the sofa, pull the chairs up a bit so the chair on the right meets the sofa at the arms. I'd also like to see the sofa pulled off the wall, at least far enough for curtains to freely hang behind.

If comfortable, I might replace the chair pillows with plain blue lumbar pillows.

@groveraxle thanks for commenting! Here's a picture of the wall opposite the sofa. No tv-unless I can hide it in a wall unit but earlier in the post many were opposed to it and I think I agree with them that it just doesn't go well with this furniture that I've chosen. Anyhow this wall has me stumped because It's off center and because of the openings on either side. I'd like more seating but not sure it will work. What are your thought?

Oh and I am planning on pulling the sofa off of the wall and maybe even placing a very narrow sofa table behind it.

Have a look at industrial style tables I think that would be more relaxed look unless you are going for "gold".

In my opinion the wall color is part of the problem. A light sage green would work with the blue and cream and gold tables like groveraxle pictured. The wall opposite the sofa also looks great but a sage green would make those pictures pop more. The wall color does nothing for the room as it is in my opinion. A dull paint with what you have picked is not complimenting your great choices.

@paulastonge hmm it's just a regular bm gray, not sure how it could be so bad?? It does have a very slight blue tint to it though.

Hey, decorrookie, the curtains are just natural linen panels. Pottery Barn usually has them: Restoration Hardware always does but they're gawdawful expensive there. What I would do is view a bunch of natural linen swatches in the room, choose one, then find a seamstress (or seamster, if there is such a thing) and have them made. Since you have blinds, you shouldn't need to line them, and you can hang them with rings and clips.

Or you can search on Houzz:

Rectangular or square end tables on each end of the sofa, with table lamps, would also be nice, along with the round glass coffee table grover posted above.

I like first pic Grover posted but you could do better on the rug IMO. It's just ok.

Update! What do you all think of these Ikat curtain panels? Yay or Nay? It's either these or plain ivory/cream like the earlier rendering up in the comments which I've attached here.

I think it looks a little more classic with the cream and gives you greater flexibility down the road.

decorrookie, did you ever choose tables? With that art, you could mix metals to good effect. Here are gold tables with a silver lamp and teal accents.

@groveraxle i havent yet but ive been working on it! Since the sofa is 108" long the table has to be at least 54" and thats making finding the right table a bit harder. What im loving is usually in the 40's (inches in length). Or theyre too expensive, like these two:
