Its free of a citrus virus that plagued previous (1975) cultivars of the tree.

I (and many other people) are not fans of Meyer lemons. When I want a lemon I want lemon flavor. It's much a matter of personal preference. Meyer lemons are sweeter but they lack the full flavor of other lemons. Not surprising since they are actually a hybrid between citron and mandarin.

I've never heard anybody say they didn't like Meyer lemons-lol. If anything,they get addicted to them! Google love Meyer Lemons. Sunset Magazine in particular loves Meyers. There is also a funny story on the SF Gate of Meyer Lemon people ..what they do to get them,ordering boxes of them..

Must be a California thing. In Florida we are up to our necks in citrus so we're a bit jaded -- not as much since citrus canker and citrus greening hit though. I like my Meyers lemon tree too; its just very common around here.

Very common here too Chro...but you don't see them for sale in markets. Thin skin,small tree size,etc. So,a bit more farmers market,specialty markets. I don't shop to pay more-lol,so my markets have the plain sour lemons,never Meyers.

The Bay Area grows great lemons. The hot summer needy Citrus are a bit more tricky to get sweet fruit from. Limes though taste great..my neighbor gave me some of hers. Delicious.

The bay area? Last time I was there it was really cold too. Strange how things will survive in different climates outside there normal range. Where I live it's like a tropical sauna most of the year -- didn't think lemons and limes would grow in the cold. I'd prefer your climate regardless though -- very nice and comfortable.
