Living room furniture and art placement, fireplace/TV obstacles

Hi! We are looking for advice on where to place a leather sectional, as well as ideas on size/type/colors of art (leaning towards b/w photogra

phy that we took ourselves). We can't put the TV over the fireplace. Should we mount the TV on the wall, then create an "art" wall around it?

Our goal is to eliminate the brick fireplace arch and patch with drywall, then paint that wall. What color do you suggest?

Should we add chairs somewhere to balance out the room? Slipper chairs? Captain's chairs? Something else?

Our collective style is best defined as transitional, but it is somewhat eclectic. We both like clean lines (even the sofa was a bit poofy for our taste) and usually lean towards touches of mid century modern or contemporary when possible (usually for bathroom, kitchen and outdoors). We also like natural materials, monochromatic with texture and pops of color to balance out the neutrals.

Also, where would we put a sofa table and would it go against a wall or behind the couch? We also don't know what type or height to use for side tables and are looking for visual photos/suggestions.

The main dilemma we are concerned with is couch placement, whether or not to add chairs, and what to do with the TV. We are newly married so marrying our style has been an interesting and rewarding journey.

The lamp in the photo is a good example of our joint taste, and a piece that we both like.

Thank you for your feedback!
