Should hardwood match or contrast tile?

Hi,
We are replacing our parquet floors with engineered hardwood, but are struggling with selecting a colour. The dark hardwood looks amazing, but might make our semi-open home feel smaller. The lighter option is less exciting but would make the space feel bigger. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
