This house has 9"-0" ceilings in most rooms, with the height rising to about 11'-6" in the largest space, the Family Room. We think alternating the heights creates more interest, and the more "standard" 9'-0" feels better in modestly sized rooms. I think a common mistake is to have all rooms be 10'-0" on the main level--- resulting in some awkward and poorly-proportioned spaces! CG
