What material is this porch made out of? AZ Heat & sun tolerant?

I live in Gilbert and am wanting this same look for my home/patio but am concerned with non-traditional Phoenix building materials (usually STUCCO!) and how they hold up/survive to the heat and sun. What kind of maintenance will this require? What is it made out of?

This patio is build from solid wood construction. Maintenance should me minimal over time. Take into consideration the sun's exposure of the areas you will be building out of wood. This patio faces north so the rest of this home deflects most of the direct sunlight that would normally beat down on the wood material.
