Using both leathered and polished granite?

I've been on the search for the perfect granite for awhile. I love a whiter granite...and that's been really hard to find in my area. As luck would have it, my granite yard had just received some new slabs the day I went, and I found one I love! It has a great balance of whites with greys. My favorite slab was leathered. I've never been drawn to the leathered finish, but it really made the slab something special (lots of glints of silvery and copper type materials). We decided to use it for our island. But, I wasn't in love with the other leathered slabs for our perimeter cabinets. They did have some I liked in the polished finish, so I went ahead and reserved one of those. The sales lady assured me that lots of people mix finishes in their kitchens...but now I'm having second thoughts. Do you all think this will look ok? It seems like most of the kitchens I've seen that have mixed finishes also have different granites on the island/perimeter (i.e., marble island and black granite perimeter). I'd love some thoughts! Oh, and here's a picture of our island slab (the color is a bit off since we were in the shade). :-)

Thanks...that's what my gut was telling me too. I called the granite yard this morning and switched to 2 leathered slabs. I loved the leathered, so might as well use it for the whole kitchen!

I don't think I would mix finishes. Having said that, at least the colors will be the same and won't conflict. That's some pretty granite. I do all of one finish, either polished or leathered or a mixture of the slab in any finish you desire with a complimentary solid quartz product.

Not sure I understand. Are you picking two different granites with movement or both the Alaska white but one polished one leathered?

I love leathered and wish my Alaska white was available in leathered, I'd have jumped at it!

My Alaska white is on the island and and is polished. My perimeter is absolute black leathered and I like them both. I didn't really want a black that was polished. It has a nice texture and doesn't steal the show from my island. :-) I have never regretted my decision.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. We currently have the same granite (it's actually Viena premium, but looks really similar to Alaska white) reserved, but one leathered and one polished. I'm just debating whether I should get both in the leathered finish or if it would look ok to have them with diffierent finishes.

Sorry-maybe it's just me.

Same granite I would stick with the same finish and if I had the choice I would do leathered but that is just my preference.

A while back someone had leathered delicatus or something similar on here and oh it was amazing. I wanted to touch it through the monitor, lol!

I think that's a good decision. Be sure to show up pictures once you get it installed. I think it's one of the prettier granites that I've seen in a long time.
