Do you mix your flatware and knives?

Does anyone store both their everyday flatware and knives in the same drawer? Pros / cons?

I do since my remodel. They all fit nicely in my 33w drawer. No negatives for me.

I don't. I've got everyday flatware in an 18 inch drawer near the table and knives in a 15 inch drawer in my prep area.

I don't either. I store flatware in an 18" drawer in island closest to the dining table and next to it in another 18" drawer in the island my knives as that is my prep area. The pro for me is convenience no cons.

Edited to add: another pro for me having those things there In the island is that it is exactly parallel to my dishwasher and sink I can quickly pop silverware in drawer from the dishwasher and I hand wash all my knives so again right from sink, dry to drawer right there! Super handy! Function baby! :)

I don't either. My flatware is right beside my DW and below the plates and bowls which are in a cupboard right above them.

My knives are in a 15" drawer set in a flat knife block in the prep area.

I don't but if the drawers were larger I probably would.

I store my knives on a magnetic rack near the sink and the eating utensils in the island behind the dishwasher.

Knives in a knife block, flatware in a drawer.

Because that's how the space worked.

    Same as lazy_gardens

Separate...knives are stored in the prep area, right next to the stove, in a big 36" top drawer in a flat knife block. Also have all the other cooking utensils in this drawer (spatulas, spoons, whisks, etc.). Flatware, including steak knives are stored in an 18" drawer closest to where we eat.

Nope. 1) I have young kids and 2) flatware are close to table and knives at prep area.

I have a knife drawer next to the sink and a flatware drawer next to the DW.

My Mom has a small kitchen, with limited drawer space and even less counter space. After she saw my knife insert, she was intrigued. I got a small one for her, which fits perfectly at the front of her flatware drawer, in front of the flatware organizer. She is thrilled!

Interesting - I would have thought more people would have them mixed. I always kept them separate since my kids were young and it was easier to keep them out of the separate drawer. Now that they are older and my new drawers going in are so much bigger I was considering it. But - maybe I will have to stick with separate and then figure out what else to stash in the flatware drawer!

Nope. My knives are in a knife block on the counter next to my cooktop. I bought a knife insert for a drawer in my island where I prep, but didn't like it, so they went back to the block. Maybe I got the wrong insert......

My cutlery drawer holds cutlery plus corkscrew plus ice cream scoop (keeps DH out of my way) plus is also holds my sandwich and freezer bags and tin foil/plastic wrap.

I have a knife magnet by the sink now and see no reason to change once the kitchen is redone. We still have DH's aluminum-can-cutting knives in a block from his bachelor days too, but I'm hoping those disappear during the remodel. Then I can get some proper steak knives and a good bread knife.

My flatware along with steak knives resides in its own drawer. I have an expandable organizer I like so well I bought a new one for the new kitchen. It holds a serving for twelve including iced tea spoons with room for steak knives and chopsticks. My good knives have a knife block. Paring knives and other utility knives share a drawer with peelers, corers, cheese slicers, pizza cutter and microplane and other "cutting" tools.
