Thanks Flo Mangan. We did change the hardware from the ornate handle at the top to the one at the bottom, but I do see your point. I am guessing that I am also probably more traditional than I thought. Thanks.

It is always useful to figure out what style you like. It helps keep you focused. Especially on a new build. Best of luck. Don't let the bumps along the way get to you. Turn them into opportunities as much as you can. And there will be problems. But if you are aware, it will be easier.

I'd suggest an idea book created from Houzz before you finalize. Personally......I'd change that cabinet style which feels just a bit dated, to something a little cleaner. And I'd reconsider the very dark island as well. Also, what is the flooring in the REST of your home?

Flo Mangan - Thank you. I admit, I feel completely over whelmed. I have never been so indecisive.

Jan Moyer - Thank you for your suggestions. Again, a little over whelming, and I agree I have to figure out my style so I can start making informed decisions. Right now our home has pine floors which we will be replacing with hardwood. The kitchen and most of the main floor tile will be replaced with the grey tile at the bottom of the photo.

Daniela - just to make you feel a bit better, I can make design decisions for other people in seconds, but when I'm doing something for my own home, not so much!! lol So, it happens to all of us, and you are not unusual! Hang in there. It is a "process".

I agree with everything that Flo said, and would add that your hardware choice is really inappropriate for those cabinets. The Berwyn looks awfully busy, but Cambria Torquay seems like a good choice. I think if you want to stick with those cabinets, make the island cabinets a painted gray instead of wood, and find a more "transitional" pull style. In this kitchen the perimeter cabinets are white and the peninsula is Farrow and Ball Mole's Breath. The peninsula counter is Neolith Calacatta.

If you want lots of movement, then go with Berwiyn. The Torquay does not have much movement. We have it in the basement for the bar area. I'll go take a picture to show you. We like it, but we wanted something calmer, so that might not be what you are going for

I am actually planning to visit your Toronto Showroom to see full slabs of Brittanicca, Swanbridge and Torquay for the island, paired with either Carrick or Dunmore on the main body of cabinets. After having the Berwyn sample at home for a few days, though stunning, I think I want the marble look.

Daniela, I brought home ~8 different samples and had them over a week end before I chose Bellingham. Look at them in your lighting, in your kitchen and see what speaks to you. I have had our Bellingham for 18 months now and I still catch my breath every time I walk into my "new" kitchen!!!

I also had my sister. She is able to read my mind and she really helped me find my voice in my kitchen remodel!!! My husband and son voiced their opinions, but, she solidified what I was feeling!! I hope you can find someone that will help you erase your doubts!!

Any chance you live near Toronto Kathi? lol Thanks again for all of your encouragement. It's great to know I am not the only one who lost sleep over this decision, and it is reassuring to know that you made it through this process with a kitchen you love.

I forgot to mention that you can go and look at the slab before you have it delivered. We saw ours before even though for us, it was not a problem since Torquay didn't have as many chances to have pools of resin
