I was actually originally wanting a light gray to pull that out of the countertops but was directed to the greens by the tile store...Im not sure I want reflective/mirror but if I could find a contemporary gray backsplash that isn't subway(not my taste) that would be perfect!

I agree with Flos's recommendations or you can go with white subway tiles. You definitely want to go simple!

Use a solid color subway tile.

Small tiles are too busy.

I would do cararra marble

those mirror tiles also come in a stainless flat look that is quite stunning and since you don't have much backsplash might be worth considering.

I like the color of the green, but I'm not sure whether I actually see any green shades in the stone. Still, white, gray, and bottle green make a nice combination.

Otherwise, it shouldn't be that hard to find a gray mosaic in the smaller/non-subway format you prefer. I think your stone sample is a bit too busy.

I wouldn't do any shade of green with that countertop. Small tiles will be way too busy with grout lines abounding. Simple and clean is the way to go.

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I am considering something in carerra, or a gray glass or preferably ceramic backsplash to bring a hint of contrast. Per the consensus I think avoiding green would be best. Flo I can see why the smaller tiles would look too busy and take away from the countertop. Any advice on alternatives to subway tiles? Subway tiles simply isnt our style. Would a carrera Arabesque tile work?

another houzzer on here is doing sea pearl and is using Ming Green Marble for the splash. It's gorgeous w/your stone.

comes in all different shapes and tones. often combined w/a white marble too.

I am familiar with your countertop and it is so beautiful, I just would want "supporting actors" for the backsplash in your case. While I love the green marble Beth posted, I would worry about it distracting and fighting for "leading" role. My nieces were just in a musical, so I am into the "theatre" metaphors! Guess you will have to decide. btw, subway tiles have been popular for decades. They are timeless and such good "supporting actors"! Just don't do pure white.

yes, like Flo said, it would have to be the toned down version of the ming green. It comes in a very light muted tone, as well as a Jade green color. You would have to find one that has more of the solid shade.

It doesn't look like you have a lot of splash. That is such a beautiful stone, I would definitely consider carrying it up the wall. The continuity would be very nice, and there is no competition for the leading role!

I am installing the Sea Pearl Quartzite also. What did you choose for a sink: stainless or a granite or other? I'm considering Blanco's silgranite sink in Metallic Gray but I'm not sure if the color will clash with the quartzite.

We selected this sink for a high end home and picked the Ikon 33" apron front and it looks great. The color we selected was a truffle because it went with the other elements in the granite and cabinetry. They love it. Just one data point. I think the Metallic Gray would be a good choice of color if you go with the Sea Pearl.
