Fireplace mantle one or tow sides?

Here is a photo of my two sided fireplace
mantle I was thinking a reclaimed wood on only one side over the fireplace. Any help is greatly appreciated

    Frame each side of the fireplace with the votives or other. Place seating cushions/pillows on the area to the right. Are you able to place artwork above the fireplace?
