Demo started, need to finalize lighting!

This is for our covered deck. This is the main entrance into the house and will also include a grilling area and bar seating.

I plan on a hanging fixture on the small entry landing, a ceiling fan with lights in the center of the main portion. I need to decide on additional lighting over the grill and bar area. There will be a beam across the opening so I can put 2-3 sconce type fixtures in the beam. Or I could skip that and do something more fun like set it up for string lights along the beam. I'm planning for a couple of outlets along the bar and grill area regardless. Once I decide on the layout I will do another post for help with the actual style of lights.

Very cool project - great that you can design it from scratch.

Here's a few suggestions from VOLT - all cast brass fixtures with lifetime warranties.

To hang over your entry way - the VOLT Tranquility Hanging Light with Shade.

While you didn't mention it, every outdoor bar needs lights under the bar - a very cool effect. VOLT LED Hardscape Lights are mounted under this bar. Also note the candles for a nice effect - these are LED candles from VOLT.

The Hardscape Lights come in all different lengths and are very easy to install.

The brass hanging light is cool but pretty sure hubby will veto it. Not very log cabin like for him.

The under bar lighting is a great idea, I'll check into it.

Hey Annette!

I guess this isn't your guest house. Don't recognize the kitchen :)

If you have any view from the bar area, I'd probably avoid anything that will interfere with it. I'd go with something like this along the inside of the beam. Though not stainless of course. Seems like the predominant style for mountain cabin lighting is wagon wheels, antlers and branches. ;-) I lived in Breckenridge in my younger days but was too poor to have any kind of style other than college dorm.
