Indecisive Libra finally makes a decision?

After months and months and months of going past my double-story blank white-ish stairwell wall, I finally bought something. That happened earlier today, and I just got an e-mail that it's been already shipped. (Thank you, Anthropologie, you are pretty fast!) I blame our very dreary Pacific Northwest winter. I think I was craving something bright and cheerful. I stalked Marla Mallett's antique kilims for what feels like an eternity, and poured over museum banners on www.betterwall.com too.

I can't believe that I found & bought something the same day. So unlike me. Please tell me that it will be silly to hang this rug (yes, I got a large size) on my wall as a tapestry. I haven't shown it to DH either. It's hand-crewel-embroidered and has cotton backing.

I feel that if this one doesn't work, I'm back to where I started. Thank you.

I'm sorry I don't have a picture of the wall in question at the moment...

I do have two large and quite bold art pieces in the hallway on the second floor and they can be seen from the stairs. I hope that it all will work somehow together :).

Looks like I'm talking to myself :). "Dear diary". Lol. The rug is set to be delivered on Valentine's Day :). I still didn't show it to DH and I wonder what he'll say. Oy. In the worst case scenario I will be out of the delivery fee and will have to return it :(. Still hope it will work.

I think it is beautiful too. It will make a great statement on your stairway wall. Be sure to hang it properly so the weight is even and it won't sag.

I too think it is great! Using painters tape map the size on the wall so you can see the best position to hang it

Thank you all, you're very kind :). I'm excited and a little nervous at the same time :). I know, it's just a rug!

Margo, true story. I was in a library and was standing next to the shelves and looking at some books. There was a long, tall table behind me and you couldn't see that next to me on the floor there was a car seat with my baby daughter in it. I was talking to her, quietly, and she was just looking at me back and not making a sound. Then all of a sudden she passed gas, in the loudest way possible (sorry!!!). I was so embarrassed. There was a man standing nearby and I'm sure (as he couldn't see her from where he was standing), that he thought I was a lunatic!

IMO the only thing that works in a stairwell is exactly what you're doing. Congratulations, it'll be stunning.

Thank you all for sticking with me!

The rug came...and it went back...The colors turned out to be more muted than I was anticipating...They were pretty close to the online photo of the rug on Anthropologie, and not at all like on the blog that I found. Perhaps the photos (for the blog) were enhanced...So DH said that he was "meh" about it and left it up to me...If he said "get rid of it", I'd probably fight it. But with his attitude, and bearing in mind that I didn't love it myself, it had to go back...

The search continues! I'm about to spend some $$$ during the semi-annual sales, which are going on now, so I might just wait and see what jumps at me, with that wall.
