Anyone use Deerfield cabinets from cabinets.com??

Has anyone used deerfield cabinets from cabinets.com? I've seen some positive reviews from them on here but realized they were the same two people writing all those positive comments on various threads.

Looking at their website, they seem to have nice quality solid wood cabinets for an affordable price. If anyone has any REAL experience with Deerfield cabinets I would love to hear your thoughts!!

Do you know what they meant by top cabinets not being full depth? Ours seem like a normal depth. I am almost 100% certain they’re the same depth as the ones in the house we just sold. Pictures attached. Ignore the missing glass panels...have not gotten around to picking a style out yet... :)

Regarding NoviceDIYer's comment, I don't know what to make of what he/she said. If you look at the Cordova frameless line from Cabinets.com, the drawers have hardware under them whereas Kith's Eurdora show them on the sides. ??

I suppose there are still those poor people out there that think that "Kenmore" builds washing machines for Sears. Or that "Pegasus" has a factory that builds things for Home Depot. Or Kroger has a little ranchwith K branded cows that will become Private Selection black Angus steaks.

Nicole, Bobby A was asking about drawer depth, not upper cabinet depth. For example, what is the depth of the shallowest drawer? For example the one to the right of your refrigerator. Thanks.

I'm working with a designer there now at cabinets.com. My concern is the paint finish. I would prefer a slab white foil as opposed to a painted finish but I do like the 60" uppers a LOT.

Putting a private label brand on builder's low grade and trying to pass it off as something much better is still pretty shady. Even if it's frequently done. People don't understand enough about cabinets to be able to realize that they are overpaying for junk.

@live_wire_oak "People don't understand enough about cabinets to be able to realize that they are overpaying for junk." Is that people's fault or folks who are in the cabinet business? For some long cars were like this till the internet made consumers more aware of the actual costs. There is still this shady thing with cars only available through dealers (except Teslas). I should also add it will be more helpful if so called pros would provide more inside and details rather than saying "go with your local cabinet maker".

Nichole Cunningham stated she receives push notifications, gave Green Designs a 'like' within minutes of his comment, "misunderstands" Bobby A's question by showing the depth of the upper cabinets as opposed to the drawers, but then doesn't respond to my question when clarified what he was really asking. ?? That's okay, I re-read the response earlier by Cabinets . com wherein she said the depth is 3" from the bottom of the drawer to the top of the face frame. This is an absurdly shallow depth and, indeed, a ladle will not fit in the drawer. nor a Costco plastic wrap package. They need to remedy this asap. It's about 4.25" in my current kitchen.

@Lisa A, would you find posting a shot to clarify. Thanks in advance. And Happy New Yr to you all.

I can add a picture. Yes, I do get push notification, but had technology turned off until the afternoon today for the New Year.

I just measured and it is indeed 3.25” as stated above. We do have a ladle that fits...but larger ladles likely won’t.
Full depth upper cabinets are only 12” deep. Many semi-custom and all custom cabinet companies will allow additional depth. In my search, the only cabinets that were typically deeper than 12” were over the refrigerator cabinets at 24” deep. It generally depends on what you want and what you can afford. The lower-priced options generally restrict offerings, in that they stick to standard sizes for basic wall cabinets and will only offer the most popular size over refrigerator cabinets, i.e. 36”w x 12”h x 12”d and 36”w x 12”h x 24”d.

You all certainly have a right question what I’ve listed but the point was for you all to thoroughly review what Cabinets.com offers, to make clear that of the “select” Kith items offered, they are identical to Cabinets.com’s offerings is entirety. That does NOT convey that they literally sale everything that Kith offers. Regardless, they are NOT the high quality product that they tout. Suggest reading non-Houzz reviews...I posted several but was heavily filtered here unlike on BBB.

Yes, we went with them because it is what we could afford. My boyfriend's parents just built a home and had custom local cabinets built and with a custom stain. They also got all their interior trim stained to match. If I had to guess, they probably spent upwards of 5x (or more) than what we spent on ours. We didn't want to go in to debt on cabinets and are quite happy with these so far (granted, we've only had them around 8 months)...so far so good.

The Deerfield Shaker II which I ordered is identical to Kith Homestead II in Maple wood with the Deluxe box (all wood but actually has plastic corner supports) option. If there’s a USA Cabinet Store near, how about visit for yourself? Cabinets.com sales select Kith items, claiming them to be their cabinets. Once it became clear, that they could not provide what I paid for, I inadvertently discovered this (stumbled upon docs when cleaning out my mail slot) and went back to USA Cabinet Store almost a year after my initial visit to confirm. Call up their customer care and ask them: 1) are you a reseller? 2) Is it not true that Kith Kitchens in Halyeville, AL manufacturers all of your assembled cabinets? I guarantee, you will not only get vague answers initially that sync with the vague answers on their FAQ but you will also be passed to other individuals until at least one person will use the “proprietary” tag (inappropriately so given what can be tagged this way, someone clearly did not know the definition nor understand what’s applicable) to hide the manufacturer’s name. Now why would their manufacturer disclose the relationship via shipping documents and labels if it was truly proprietary? Because it isn’t! Just as I did for the dozens of items received (40 large items total to try and satisfy quantity for 15 cabinets and 1 refrigerator panel), most people will overlook these details given the focus of inspection is the physical condition of the items. In reality, Kith’s disclosure will actually hurt them more than Cabinets.com given Kith via USA Cabinet Stores quoted me over $13k more than what I paid for my subpar items from Cabinets.com. So, again, why would they(Kith) make their identity and location readily available, as well as to readily discuss information that Cabinets.com refuses (i.e. layers of paint, air dry va bake dry, number of assy line etc)? Whether you buy through Cabinets.com or Kith’s other distributors, the overall quality does not sync with what either they touts.
Sorry, I misunderstood too! The bottom cabinet shelves are not full depth. They’re only 10 1/4” deep as opposed to the approx 22 1/2” interior depth of the cabinet.

Has anyone done a price comparison to Kich? Is the 30 percent a real sale ? I ordered some Dóor samples today.2 reasons I'm leaning toward them panty cabinet with drawers on bottom.i have a Dóor in the way of 24 inch base cabinets in one area they have options to reduce depth.they also have no tax, Sherwood Williams paint., Blum hardware, plywood boxes, and PayPal so I can use 6 months to pay .i have prices now from 7700 to 11000

i did a take off over the holiday adding a bunch of gingrtbread from those quotes and I'm a little under 7500 . Included 2 tall cabinets instead of 1. I ordered 2 gray and 2 white samples

That’s a tough one given the base prices Cabinets.com list are well out of sync with the base prices that USA Cabinets Store provided for the same Kith-branded items. However, I will share that a short time after my Cabinets.com purchase, one of the members of Cabinets.com’s customer care indicated that they chose to scale their base price so as that it would appear that they were offering a heavier discount to more competitive with their prime competitor...this in response to my inquiry whether they would honor any reductions as a result of the update. In this case given it’s Cabinets.com, I would say the price should not be your focus. It’s whether or not they can honor the quality that they advertise in the time they promise.
Keep in-mind as well that their samples are NOT representative of the actual paint quality received which is why I had to have everything re-painted. Paint does chip and fracture but their paint issues are beyond normal wear and tear and fracture; it’s due to insufficient paint and finish coat layers, as well as a poor paint application and drying process. Their stain may be better! I can’t imagine how their stain would have all of the same finish issues although one of my stain samples had the same bubbling that was observed on multiple ones of my actual cabinets. Points back to application and/drying!

@Bob Slusser, I ordred two doors and they look good but I will say that very hard to judge quality from the door samples alone. I wish I could buy one cabinet and see for myself. But then this true for any cabinets unless you can play with them like at Ikea. I would love to scratch, hit my coffee mug, slam doors etc for example.

BTW - Would some one be kind enough to rate various brands in some sort of ratings, for example, we have looked at Ikea, Lowes Kraftmade, Diamond, Shuller, and Shenandoah. Online Bakers, CliqStudios, Cabinets.com.

Kraftmaid is great. Their paint finish is great quality and cabinets are solid as a rock. I purchased them three years ago from HD - kitchen photo below. I purchased IKEA and their paint finish - off white Bodbyn and it's a great painted finish that seems super tough (laundry room below). I've used semihandmade door and drawer fronts too on IKEA carcasses and they've been good. Theirs are primarily veneers and foils which I think I would like even better than paint as far as durability is concerned. Paint can crack at joints. Bathroom below. What I like about IKEA is doing things like flipping the door and drawer placement in bathrooms. Other brands do it too but it's cheaper with IKEA. Putting a drawer on the bottom and using doors above is a more efficient use of space. Your space needs to be able to accept a 24" deep base cabinet, though, and obviously not a concern if you're just doing a kitchen.

I don't know other brands but the three lines can be seen in Lowes first hand and they'll tell you about the quality of each one.

I am unfamiliar with most brands you have listed. However, Cliq Studios (presumed prime Cabinets.com competitor) had very high-quality door samples although I passed on them given projected delivery timelines and uncertainty whether wood was American-sourced. I would recommend searching Cliq Studios discussions or creating your own...as well as searching for non-Houzz reviews. Given my budget, I wholeheartedly regret not going with my intent to purchase KraftMaid. Just as with American Woodmark at Home Depot, I had absolutely no problem getting any of my questions answered...in fact, Home Depot “overwhelmed” me with hardcopy info (specs and paint/drying process) and links to both KraftMaid and American Woodwork that I refined my original list of basic questions. In any case, keep in mind that if you want an all wood option, you’ll have to pay an all wood premium both when ordering assembled cabinets through Home Depot and Lowe’s. Although, in my experience attempting to avoid that premium cost me thousands more overall than the collective KraftMaid quote for all wood construction and delivery. The other potential issue dealing with the big box stores is that they don’t actually “manage” their installers...the setup simply allows use of store credit cards to finance projects; consider a cabinet-only purchase or at the very least inquire who their preferred installer is so as that you can check their reviews independently before signing a contract. My aunt/uncle bought KraftMaid (standard box construction) through Home Depot two years ago, the cabinets are very nice, no cabinet damage, received more cabinets than contracted for (took months to retrieve refund given installer company refusal), and their 2-3 wk project took almost 3x months (bad installer picked by Home Depot). I am not aware of any all wood options made by IKEA but have friends who have purchased their kitchens and are very satisfied; it boils down to preference and their pricing, in my opinion, was high to not be all wood. However, they do have a significant sale annually (timeframe escapes me right now) that may make a purchase with them worth it; and friends say they’re extremely easy to install and modify as a diy, and add-ons affordable. So based on my own experience and family/friends’ experience-> KraftMaid exceeded expectations quality-wise, IKEA, ________ ! Cabinets.com doesn’t compare to either! I would tag it bottom of the barrel from a quality standpoint if the idea is that they’re ready to install, no substantial modifications are required prior to or after install, and their appearance actually syncs with their advertising and direct promises by their staff. Although, again, it’s a matter of preference and what you’re willing to tolerate although if you can afford KraftMaid...buy it!
American Woodmark is also very nice. I have another Aunt/Uncle that purchased the standard option...also around two years ago. Although not an all wood option (as with the aunt/uncle that bought KraftMaid), the “standard” option is far beyond standard in that the cabinet sides are super thick and sturdy unlike the contractor grade cabinets. Neither seemed to slack on the actual construction/assembly itself. The face frames are obviously all wood so, in hindsight, the KraftMaid all wood premium is unnecessary in my opinion.

Thanks. I have sample doors from CliqStudios and Cabinets.com. CliqStudios door, I was able to mar the finish very easily. All wood doors sound good but for painted you will have issues (from what I hear). MDF panes inside wood probably better.

I'm NOT a novice. It's my day job for many years now.

Perhaps you should hire someone who is actually knowledgeable in the field you are attempting to read the cliff notes for. And don't buy import anything. That includes most of the internet sellers. Good quality cabinets are not ordered off of the internet.

Hire a good Kitchen Designer. And listen to them. Short cuts make for long travel. And they cost a lot more in regret and money both.

I agree most use mdf for center panels or entire panels for painted finish. Also just to clarify, my reference to “all wood” is a reference to box construction including no non-wood or particle board material. I should have made that clear especially when making reference to IKEA given I am not personally aware of IKEA offering all wood box construction or all wood face frames/doors/drawers fronts. As with KraftMaid, American Woodmark, CliqStudios and Kith (in general, although from Cabinets.com in this case), the face frames/doors/drawer fronts are all wood only offerings (except center panels of multi piece constructed doors/drawer fronts) when painting; whereas, it is possible to purchase KraftMaid, American Woodmark and Kith-branded (from USA Cabinet Stores) cabinet with standard particle board or all wood box construction.

Listen to live_wire_oak. I learned the hard way that that cheap price isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. That’s what I’ve tried to convey! Local cabinet makers are also a great option...which I learned the hard way after having to have someone salvage as much of the subpar items received as well as make several items! They’re actually not as expensive as one would think and they generally can make anything that you can imagine. If you don’t go over the top with extra options, they’re not a bad deal at all. I didn’t use a designer although my project generally preserved the initial footprint cabinet-size wise (only increased island size given eat-in area sqft was underutilized); I also know my way around generating schematics. However, if you don’t have that skill in addition to taking extremely accurate measurements, I agree with live_wire_oak. You’ll just cost yourself more money! Ask actual professionals a lot of questions. They generally do not mind, many even explained in minute detail both what needed to be done and how to to do it. They’ll be able to assess quickly as with live_wire_oak whether you have the knowledge to do the work yourself or whether you should hire someone else. And don’t be offended! Good luck!

I'm still in the final process of making a decision on these guys. But I will say, the pictures
HU-417461122 shared do look look impressive and authentic (kudos on your color choices). I can appreciate that live_wire_oak does this for a living, and it would be great to be able to hire custom artisans to come cut down the trees, mill the wood, and assemble everything from scratch with only hand tools. But I have to live in reality, and my budget just won't stretch far enough for that. These guys are on my short list as a good compromise on quality, price and good looks. Thanks to everyone for sharing helpful feedback.

Well when they don’t work out, don’t be surprised when they refuse to take the cabinets back, refund your money or acknowledge that they are at fault. Also, don’t be surprised when they attempt to silence you by holding a non-disclosure clause and non-disparagement clause over your head presenting it in advance as a discussion regarding receipt of your full refund; no one should have to sign anything for their rightful refund. FYI It will be titled “Release Agreement” although I urge you to read the poorly written document before you sign anything...then get a lawyer. Ask them how many folks have they paid not to post public reviews or to remove them outright. The address listed belongs to another Houzz user that they paid to delete his review, rather than my address. yes, they mishandled another customer’s personal info...forgot to overwrite it with my correct address which I promptly notified them; assuming he signed a near-identical agreement with them, they violated their joint confidentiality clause with the customer. They WILL NOT refund your money in entirety (do the math, the numbers are visible) if/when they fail to provide quality cabinets as advertised.

After getting super high prices for various contractors to install cabinets (they were all offering US Cabinet Depot by the way... so that would be way overpaying for sub par quality), we decided to order everything online. We went with Deerfield for the kitchen as they have odd sizes and full height doors which I prefer on cooktop and sink cabs. The product is very well made for the money, and the imperfect items were replaced at n/c by the company. And those replacements shipped out fast. Just as important to me, the customer service at the company is the best I've encountered in years from any company. The designer I worked with treated me like I was buying cabinets for a million $ home. She was amazing in every way! Additionally, the claims representative was equally wonderful to deal with! At the end of the day, I would order from Deerfield/Cabinets.com again and would recommend them highly. There are a lot of "junk" cabinets out there for much more money...which anyone will find out if they do enough digging.

We had Wellborn cabinets (from builder) and they were junk...particle board shelves that were not adjustable?! I realize there are different levels of many lines, but there was no comparison when looking at Deerfield cabinets and anything else in the same price point. Deerfield surpassed everything else by a mile! People who want to spend money on custom cabinets should absolutely do so...but for many of us, not breaking the bank for some name brand cabinet that might or might not be as good as something that costs far less, is the obvious choice.

Well for me the experience could not have been better..No everything didnt go perfect .However Cabinets.com was perfect in every response and from design, to delivery, to claims, and communication I give them an A+ Very happy with everyone .Measuring for granite tomorrow.I have the decorative door panels ,scribe molding ,and a few odds and ends to finish up

HU-417461122, I'm thinking of ordering the same color combination you have. Are you happy with the color combination. I noticed the Pecan sample seemed to have color variations which I'm sure is the wood grain. How does it look? Are you happy with the color? Your photos look great! Thanks!

We have done a lot of DIY projects and a few contractor-bid jobs; we've purchased from Home Depot, from Lowes, from a local cabinet maker, from Canyon Creek, and from RTA, so it's fair to say that as a non-professional, we have a bit of experience upon which to base an opinion:

We wanted to redo our 1984 laundry room. It's a big space that also includes a bathroom. We weren't in a hurry so I did a lot of research and shopping. But we were getting $10k bids and I just did not want to put that kind of money into laundry room cabinets. When the last "economical" bid came in at $9k and was going to give me particle board boxes, and "we can't do custom depth drawer boxes," I decided to go with cabinets.com - who could give me all the bells and whistles of "high end" cabinets* AND customs sizes/depths, as well as the fun of spending hours (days?) playing with the options. Yes, I was super nervous about ordering a lot of cabinets from an on-line source, but we saved more than $3400, got more cabinets, and a sink base for "free".

We received our order in April and over the weekend, started the installation. I have to say, I am beyond pleased with the quality and look of the cabinet.com product. Everything came undamaged; the local delivery company was epic; and the cabinets themselves are solid, well built, and superior quality over any other cabinet we have purchased. Part of our order included 21"x84" pantry cabinets; they were perfectly plumb, include 5 shelves, all of which are adjustable, and well finished. I actually felt giddy putting our stuff back in them.

While we had absolutely no contact or follow up with customer service, I never got that with the local company either.

As a side, we ordered Willow Grey and Alabaster. The grey is warm, almost like BM Grey Owl, and the alabaster is a perfect warm "off white" - no yellow or taupe.

    *5/8" plywood boxes

wood species doors (not just frame)

    maple, dove tail drawers

    soft close

    painted

kkennedy26, yes, pecan has some color variations because it is natural - stained, not painted. Sure I like what I have in our kitchen. Installation was completed at the end of October last year. So far no issues.

Has anyone used a company called RTA Kitchen Cabinets Online? Their prices are really low, and they will ship preassembled for only a small amount more, but their specs seem very good, and equivalent to the better other RTA lines.

Wondering how everyone feels about the top drawer in the base cabinets from cabinets.com??? Do you find it useless?
Anyone know that actual amount of “usable” height of those top drawers?
    Thanks!

It's not useless. We have made excellent use of ours but I do wish it was a little taller as others have complained about above. However, we got used to them pretty quickly. We love the fact that they are all full extension and operate super smooth. Pluses and minuses, I guess.

Do disk towels fit?? Foil and plastic wrap?

Yes, foil and plastic wraps fit. 2 1/2"" plus approx. 1/2" of space above the drawer.

It won’t fit Costco size plastic wrap, but it’ll fit Costco size tin foil. It’ll fit normal size for both plastic and tin foil.

@Nichole Cunningham- I live in Seattle as well and have been really considering at cabinets.com but hate that I cant see them in person. Any chance I could see yours? Not sure if there’s a way to private message in here, I’m new to Houzz.

Has anyone ordered their frameless cabinets? If so, how do you feel about them? I've been working with a KD with them, but not quite ready to pull the trigger. I'll see what the total cost comes out to. Looking to save on costs so we are also considering Ikea cabinets with doors such as Semihandmade. I know its not apples to apples comparison.

Your laundry room is beautiful. We are going to use them for our laundry room, but our laundry room isn’t nearly as large...just trying to figure out layout. I think we got the same cabinet style as you got for our kitchen.

If you use semi handmade get samples. You may end up cheaper using RTA.

After doing a lot of research and getting very expensive quotes from some local options, we went with cabients.com. I am happy we did. The quality is decent and couldn't beat the price. I like that they are solid wood and not particle board. They feel solid and the soft close is nice. We worked with Adriana Love and she was very patient with my many modifications and requests. Due to covid there was a delay (ordered in beginning of March and shipped end of May). The shipping company they worked with was pretty terrible - I took a day off work on the scheduled delivery date, only to get a call that morning saying that the cabinets didn't fit on the truck so they had to reschedule. There were a couple of small mistakes - one filler piece was the wrong color, and one cabinet was not the extra depth we ordered. They quickly replaced the filler piece and we ended up just using the cabinet they sent (the one to the left of the pantry was supposed to be the same depth as the pantry) and requesting a refund. We've been living in the kitchen for a few months now and are loving it (-:

Very pleasant experience. Replacement parts due to shipping damage shipped out promptly and process was simple. customer service above average.

I got several quotes prior to ordering from Cabinets.com and those quotes were very high. I love the soft close and the quality is excellent. Our designer, Jessica was so patient with all the changes and answered all my questions. She was awesome!

Our new kitchen addition took a long time... I won't tell you because you won't believe me. 🤣 There's even a bit more to finish. I'm loving the cabinets and the special touches Jessica was able to assist me with to make it my forever kitchen, pantry, laundry room and hall nook! ❤
