Plumbing supply vs Amazon- Kohler faucet

I just found my Kohler kitchen faucet on Amazon for $100.00 less than I paid at the local plumbing supply store. Everything is identical. Should I return the one I bought at the store and purchase through Amazon? Is there any difference? How can I find out?

Abby, the other thing to consider is customer service and whether or not you can return the item if something breaks and/or is damaged upon arrival. If you buy from a plumbing supply store, they will honor the warranty as a dealer of official Kohler products and will replace the whole faucet or parts, if necessary. If something goes wrong with the one on Amazon, you're stuck unless you have some sort of buyer's protection plan with your credit card. So saving the money in the short term might end up costing you in the long term.

This is a question I answer for a lot of my Clients who find the same thing.

A lot of plumbing manufacturers create the same product with different, lower quality interior components. For example, from a showroom, you will be guaranteed to get faucets with ceramic discs and metal interior components. At lots of online retailers, you will get the same looking faucet, but the interior components will me made of plastic. If you purchased it from Home Depot or equivalent plumbing supply store, then the amazon product might be the exact same. If you purchased it from a quality showroom, you probably would be downgrading in quality.

It's like buying Ralph Lauren from the actual Ralph Lauren flagship store vs. Ross. Both are Ralph Lauren, but the clothes you find at Ross were probably never sold in the flagship store. Different quality to meet different clientele.

No, a Kohler product is a Kohler product. I have bought every Kohler product , sinks, facets , toilets, on line . Kohler does not make two different product lines of the same product, a cheap one and a quality one. That would be like General Mills selling a different version of Cherrios at Costco vs a grocery store. laughable. Buy the next on online though.

Abby, are you saying you found the Kohler faucet on Amazon, or are you saying you found a faucet that looked exactly like it (but wasn't Kohler)

I found it at the local plumbing supply store for $278. Amazon has what looks to be the identical faucet for $178. Amazon says it's Kohler.

We renovated a guest bath 2.5yrs ago and the other day, the bath handle came off in my hand. We bought the fixtures through a local showroom for Bath/Kitchen supplies. The fixture was Rohl Verona and was not cheap. The inside was plastic and it broke...don't think it matters where you buy. Pays to shop around!

@mharon, I hope that plumbing supply shop replaced the item for you. And yes, look for ceramic valves, not plastic ones regardless of brand.

Didn't know it was plastic inside until it broke off yesterday. We had purchased it in 2014 so not replaceable.
