I was rereading the JC Sans book and I'm thinking the other Futura you gave me, and I think you gave one to Chris, is actually Futura Wonder. I don't know if you have the book but I'll take a picture of JC's picture and post it so you can see as well. Just let me know if you want to see it. You certainly have some really unusual varieties of the trifasciata family, Stush!!

vitorama post a pic!! I never got a hold of Chainians book and I would love to see too. Stush great 'Asahi'. I love this cultivar. I lost mine a year or two back don't remember why but I think I had it in less than ideal winter conditions. When smaller I had it on my windowsill and it grew and pupped very well. That future 'Striated' is one of my favorites. I was gifted the parent plant and it is one I will always keep around as it is a lot of fun. Every pup is different. vitorama I would love to see your Aloes too!!!

Vitorama, I don't think that's the same plant described by Juan. Maybe some one can contact him and let him decide about this? So far only got a few pups true but other pups reverted back to all silver and larger growing. Hope Chris's pup true. So far have yours been true?

Karen, These came from 'Moonshine'. Reason we love them is because they are different with extra green banding. I have regular Moonshine if you want any?

Stush, are you trying to crush my hopes of Futura Wonder? Lol. Ok, well, I wished anyway. It is definitely different from regular Futura. Mine hasn't pupped yet Stush, so I'm not sure how they will turn out. I'll keep you posted.

Karen we didn't get as many inches as expected here in no but it is heavy and wet and schools will be closed two days. Shush this first pup looks suspiciously like regular 'moonshine' but we will know more this summer!!

My future striated her four pups are looking better than mom. Can't wait for warm weather and to get these guys back outside.

Whoa!!! Those are certainly some very unusual looking Aloes....nothing like I expected. That second one is awesome!!

I've seen the second one before. Have to look up it's name. Purchased last year Aloe descoingsii x haworthioides which looked really cool by it's picture but the plant is very small growing. Was hopping it grew much larger.

I broke it all up into many plants.

My taste has been going towards small hybrid Aloes and Haworthias. So much easier to keep and this time of year is their growing season. Got very lucky with seeds from ebay two years ago.

Got many Haworthias as well. Not from seeds, they take many years to grow so I was lucky to find some nice ones around. Posted on C&S forum.

Lori, Keep me in mind if you get pups from above. Also any takers for Aloe descoingsii x haworthioides? They only grow about 3 to 4 inches max. Mine are at best 2 inches. I think they can take down to 40 degrees and never had a rot issue.

My Aloes and Haworthia take on many different colors of green, red, purple and blue during the stressful hot summer days. Turn all green during their growing season now.

They are so popular on the other forum that we should have our own forum just for them.

Also I numbered my hybrid Aloes until I can get a proper guess ID.

i have had a thing for haworthias too, Stush, especially when you see what some people are posting, that thread is still going! I love the Haws with windows and some of the ones I've seen are to die for! I have to keep that collecting under control though because my main love are Sans and I only have so much window space available!

i will have the green one available in the spring, if you like that one too. The white peduncled one is just pupping now so you will be the first on my list, Stush.

The 'hahnis' and Aloe maculata variegated growing on my office windowsill need dividing. This windowsill is beside single pane glass in a converted trailer in New Jersey but the plants seem to do well enough there. I put them on a desk for the photo all are practically breaking out of their pots, esp. that Aloe!

Chris, that bottom left in the picture. Looks almost like golden hahnii but much more green. Is a pup available?!

My Aloe maculata variegated is doing well but not nearly as nice as yours. Is it in all year or do you give it a summer vacation? Mine got burned last summer even in part sun. This year it get bright shade.

Yes I can make a pup of that Hahni available to both of you. Stush I thought you may have this (this plant was originally a 'Silver Frost' but now much more like a greener gold hahni). Stush I will send a pup of this to you along with a pup of 'Jade dwarf marginated'. Maybe next week if the weather is better. Vitorama do you have this variegated Aloe??

Thank you Chris. That other Silver Frost you sent is doing great but not so nice of colors as yours is showing. Still a keeper. I'm down to one hahnii Streaker. Lost 3 of them to crown rot. Hope that last one survives. So far lost 1/2 of it but remaining one is started to grow. Worst year for my special hahnii.

Got computer problems. If I can't fix them, may be off for a while. Computer is about 15 years old and new ones are much cheaper and way more powerful.

vitorama....Although 'Samurai' looks like a nice looking and desirable plant......I am EXTREMELY limited on my growing space to about 3 small windows....even moreso for the bright light, so I will pass. You may prompt my interest in something else possibly (not sure what else you grow, also maybe outside plants, aquarium/terrarium plants[?]) else postage is fine. Maybe keep on a list for a pup of that second Aloe with the white teeth assuming it is a smaller growing type.

Woodnative, I will definitely keep you on the list for the aloe, no problem. I don't have much in the way of aquarium/terrarium plants because like you, with my limited space, I am primarily a Sans freak with some, not just some, a lot, of other succulents. I live right by an aquatic nursery though so if there is anything in particular you are looking for, I may be able to get it for you.

No skills this year. That's why I need restocking. With haworthias, they seem to not mind being in lower light and temps. Same with the hybrid aloes that stay small. Just perfect for house plants.

Chris, Yes of course. Seems every nursery thinks they have the next great new plant out there. So they name it and think there's is the only one. When someone like B. Juan Chahinian records it and publishes it, then it gets some respect. But even then, if some proof comes in of a earlier one then it gets the credit. Name game all over again.

Vitorama that senegambica variegated is something you won't find anywhere else but it is not too difficult to grow. I got the original plant a decade or so ago and it only had one variegated stripe on one leaf. It produced plain green after plain green pup for two years (or more?) or so until I finally got it to produce one from the section with the variegation and went from there. That hahni is unusual too good luck with them.

Ohh, now I'm jealous. My senegambica is still all green. Kidding, it is still a nice plant to own. It does grow pretty strong and healthy.

Stush I though I had sent you this before?? Let me know if you "need" one I will certainly send one (though probably later in summer).

I will certainly relish my plant then. I've shopped many a grower and have never seen a senegambica variegated.

Vitorama I think variegates are a lot of fun. I particularly like the unstable variegates with more random variegation. These are more difficult in that they need to be "maintained" to keep the right amount of variegation. S. senegambica striated and S.t. future striated fall into that category, and to some extent that hahni might too. I grow a masoniana variegated and a cylindrical variegated (the latter is only one plant and doesn't have much variegation right now) along that line but space is limited....even moreso for the sensitive variegates. I am in NJ too in a smaller house (that is on a north hill) and don't have that much space for growing plants but I packed 3 little windows. My office window is also pretty decent for plants so I have some there too. In any case I mostly grow smaller Sans. I have a couple other favorites around such as some unusual jades (all still small) and I always like to keep a variegated Monstera around. OH I love streaked Hosta too which also have unstable variegation.

Stush box did not arrive yet hopefully today, though we are having a monsoon!

Woodnative. You did send me a S. Senegambica but it had one small white stripe in one leaf and all the rest of the new leaves were regular as well as the new pups. Still hoping to see some thing in the pups.

What I'm most upset about is loosing 3 hahnii streakers. Last one is also now showing crown rot. Hopefully one pup on it survives and I can replenish my stock. I like that one more than Gold Hahnii because no two leaves are alike. Some of my Sans treated the exact same way did great thru the winter. Really hurts to see Gold Hahnii, Streaker and Jade marginated bite the dust.

What's not to love about variegated plants?

Stush- Not sure when I sent you that..........for a while that is all I was getting was minimal variegation but with time I have gotten better ones. Next package I send you will include a better one I would have this time if I had known.. Maybe hahni 'streaker' too but also later this summer I only kept one pot of it over winter. It is one I like a lot too and like to keep a backup.

My original Monstera variegated also had minimal variegation........just a little white stripe about every third leaf. As it grew I kept chopping it up.....trying to encourage new growth from the part of the stem with variegation. Eventually (took some time) I did get it and now have a couple of well mottled plants.
