Help designing laundry space

I have a 1 bedroom english basement I run as an AirBnb. I am planning on replacing the HVAC system with mini-splits, which will open up room to install a washer/dryer. However, the closet space is very tight and the minisplit will come down over the molding on the right hand closet. I would like to put in a full size unit, but I'm not sure if it's possible given sizes - what do you think? What is the best way to keep the place looking nice without spending a fortune?

On the left, the single door closet has a door frame that is 23" wide, 80" high. The interior width is 28" and the depth to the back of the door frame is 24.5" and to the front of the door frame is 29.5"

On the right, the double door closet is the same depth and height, and has 28" of space before the pipes from the hot water heater begin.

I think I could fit a full size washer in the right closet, but it would stick out 1.5 inches. I would then have to install some form of shelving to the right of the unit in front of the hot water heater. I'm at a total impasse and need to start making decisions quickly!
