Tech Lighting Kable Lite

Hi. I have a question regarding the kable lite cable being ran thru the wood beams. Did you run the bare cable thru the wood? or was the insulated/coated kable lite style cable used? Wasn't sure if there was a manufacturer recommendation with product. Thank you in advance
