Please help with front porch decor!

We have a large front porch heading to the front door with enough room for seating. The front door does not get much sun if any, and I had wanted to put planters on either side of the door. Should I skip the planters and put two chairs? Or find shade loving plants? What kind of planter would I use and what kind of plant? I have two chairs that I could add some throw pillows as to not have to spend much money. Also have two side tables/benches (but not really) that I could paint. Any ideas to make this area work? And also in need of a rug and wreath or some sort of door decor! The porch also wraps around to the front of the house and we have 2 white rockers that I would like to keep but maybe get coordinating pillows to go with them.

I kind of like the rockers where they are in this case. Put a potted plant on the table between them...such as red ivy geranium for color pop. The ivy variety blooms all the time. Agree with colorful pillows.

Is the door area too dark for plants? Just wondering about white pots with plants to flank the door. I would remove the dark chairs you have there now. Maybe paint those little tables white. Can you post a photo from farther back?

Put the two rockers or chairs each side of front door and plants further down on the steps or in front of stairs.

Also orange on pillows would help make it look a bit brighter and will match the stone wall beautifully.

Hi crlove, you have an awesome front porch! And I love the stone wall. I would definitely keep the two rockers, and extend the white furniture to the other side as well. It seems like that entry can get a little dark and I think having white furniture may help brighten it up. You can add some fun colors with throw pillows and a rug. Check out these home life pillows for some cute ideas to start with, and they are available in a few different colors, and even have an outdoor material as well. There are a lot of other categories to browse through too if you have a specific design in mind. For the rug I would browse around Amazon or Houzz to get some ideas for something that suite your tastes and maybe from there you could pick out matching pillows. Or you could go with something like this elegant doormat that could really go with anything. Have fun and happy decorating!!

Nice porch / entry. If it were mine I'd place a bench (with pillows) on one of the walls flanking your front door & a more rustic looking console table opposite with plants & a few interesting objects atop it. Since its a covered area you could hang a piece of outdoor art on the wall above either the bench or console table on the wall with the siding. There are lots of reasonably priced console tables for sale on Houzz' site appropriate for outdoors (I just bought one for my patio)

I thought about a bench on the rock wall side and love the idea of wall art! Thank you all for your suggestions! Now if I could only make a decision!!!

What a lovely space! Pillows would definitely brighten up the porch and make it a bit more inviting, and you could go with some planters on either side of the door too. Plants are always lively and make a space look fresh. Since your rock wall acts as kind of a feature wall, I would keep the planters simple, maybe getting two in a solid stone hue that matches the rock wall.

I have tried several hanging plants under my porch ceiling and they never work. Even shade lovers.

I'd put your two benches on either side of the door with a pillow on each. No one will sit on them, but they will look inviting and comfortable. I like the rockers where they are.

You may have to focus on foliage, rather than flowers in that shady area.
