It looks good. No need to buy new sheers right, the ones that you have should suffice.

The 2 mirrors I bought were exactly the ones that was posted by Home Interiors with Ease. Found them on sale 40% off

Here are some accent colour inspirations :

I do like the picture you posted, being more monochromatic, but the big round tray above the tv just doesn't work for me. Wrong proportions...

And, love the center coffee table and side table you chose. LOVE!

Glad you are having fun and it is showing.

The plant adds a breath of fresh air, literally.

The basket adds texture, which the room needs.

The table adds shine and pattern.

Light colored window treatments add natural light to the room.

Light colored frames and accent pieces and throw pillows add brightness to the room.

    All good things.

Not sure it is a good idea, but I am pondering if you could find a table runner for the television console. My sister-in-law has some interesting ones.

I tried to search for one to post, but my computer is slow today and it is taking forever to get pages to load.

That photo with several lanterns hanging -- I noticed how they lit up because of the ceiling's recessed lights... have a room with those in the house?

Yes from the kitchen. It's one room kitchen/living room.

I like how the lanterns add to your vibe -- What finish of handles/ pendants is in the kitchen - is it same as lanterns' look? I ask cause maybe in area near kitchen/ with that lighting to make -em glow.

Have you changed your room around yet idang

Maybe there's empty floor space [and no cabinets], for a set of lanterns.

    How is everything going @idang
Ongoing! Currently installing wood look tiles, hope it helps brighten the room more.
So you took the carpet out and replaced it with ceramic wood like tile....nice...is it grey?
Well Im changing the entire floor.

    You rock!

Ok tiles almost done but while they're still working on the kitchen, can anybody give me ideas as to how im going to rearrange my furnitures here? Excuse the mess. First pic used to be formal dining area but since we never use it, we decided to move our table where our kitchen is. Our boring front entry is behind that large silver vase. 2nd pic is where these green sofas were. Thanks!
Very nice pieces idang. Will this be your formal living room? I would place your sofa in front of window and the two chairs facing it with coffee table in the center
  • 9 years ago

Can you place a second ceiling light where the dining chandelier is hanging?

So move the sofas to the area where the green wall is? Living room will be directly by the front door? Place the moose head on that green wall as well? I do not have wall art yet but I plan to buy...if i see one on sale. Hehe.

Move the two chairs to the green wall sofa at window

Ok so sofa by the window, loveseat on the green wall and chair across sofa and window right?

Is this room connected to the space you did with the Moroccan style with neutrals?

I feel like you need to try making your rooms more cohesive...
Then that will make the other side of the room empty where the moose head is.

How many sitting pieces you have idang... if it's four then that is correct

No its not connected. The mediterranean is the family room/kitchen. This is by the front entry. Two areas actually. 2nd pic with moose head was where these sofas originally placed. The other area with the ceiling light that needs to go also was our sort of formal dining but we never eat there. Tired of dusting everyday so we thought of just moving it to the kitchen.
This was before and the other area with green wall (repainting it with gray by the way) was the dining. That green wall is what divides the formal dining from the great room. I guess houses here are designed to have formal dining directly where the front entrance is. I never hold parties so having a formal dining area is not practical for us. I cannot put a table/console by the front door because the door opens to the right (swings toward the wall). I like to have a foyer but I guess it cannot be.

Can we stick with the green room for now

Oh absolutely! I just was not sure if I should move it to the green wall after we took the dining table out because that area was supposed to be formal dining. Im so used back home to just have one living room,a kitchen and thats it! No formal living or dining room. :)

I would use the more open area with the green wall ( gray wall?) will be....for a larger living area and make the smaller room with the moose head a entry with less furniture maybe a chair and small table? Am I understanding your layout correctly?
    Yes. Thanks guys! :)
@claire larece, i only have 3. Sofa, loveseat and chair. All these will be transfered, not exactly sure where i'll put the large floor vase. I can remove the plant and use that instead if its too bulky there.

Way too much furniture with strong personality in that small space. Maybe if you remove the flowers from the vase , but it is just too much and the white drapery doesn't work for me either.

Well I dont have the budget anymore to buy new furnitures since I had the floors changed so I have to work with what i have right now. Maybe I can just use the sofa and loveseat or sofa and chair so it would not be too much?? Or put sofa cover on one maybe to tone it down?

Maybe try to add in some warm wood pieces of some kind it all looks so cold....remove the glass table and work on trying to replace it with something in wood...that hugh vase is just overwhelming the space it is way to big for your home...so sorry trying to help and be honest....

Idang I thought since you had the pieces in the green wall and gray room it was going in there even though the stair room looks nice I agree with HIWE

I understand you have already done a lot. I think the room would be better if you removed the loveseat/sofa and had just the two chairs facing each other with the coffee table on the wall under the window. Put the vase in safe keeping for some other time. Put the other furniture piece in a safe storage or a bedroom/guest room. this will relieve this room and bring a warmer look. Also, if I remember correctly, you were changing the light fixture out. Perhaps something with a warmer look would help this room. Maybe a semi-flush with a good diffuser and a dimmer would help quite a bit. I know this has been a difficult process and we are trying to help so don't loose faith. You can keep doing the small things now that will really help your overall home.

@claire, I just showed HIWE the before pic of where the furnitures were. I moved it already to that green wall but it did not look good :( I will just store them for now and leave these rooms empty.
@idang you don't need to put in storage if you want to keep the chairs at the stairway area just remove that one love seat that is directly under the moose head and turn the coffee table around
  • 9 years ago
Ok i will try that! Thanks!
