how funny as i have been to a nice tea room today that had miss matched chairs i love that look did you paint them yourself ? can we see more of the room from the other side? also love the green and your floor the clocks also nice but maybe something different for the window dressing

I liked all of them.. Couldn't choose just one style.. So I bought three different chairs

I love the eclectic look of the room. A couple of tweaks and I think you will be there. A nice rug with your color will help anchor the room. I would lower the clock and center it between the chair rail and the ceiling. I think if you add a center piece to the table like an interesting bowl or tray it would help. over all a great start.

I don't know what you mean by different window covering.. Can you dress up plantation shutters without making it look too tacky??

I like it. I think the clock could be a bit lower. And the chairs more mixed, eg the larger ones across from each other. I would consider floor to ceiling panel drapes in a solid the base color of the wallpaper you have under the wainscotting for both the dining and living room windows.

just the curtains may be even that colour?

love your lamp by your fire place but maybe move it over by the sofa love your fire guard yes i know you didnt ask about that part of the room but a nice rug would look good love your taste so far

I love the green!! I think it's the position of the furniture. What's down the bottom in the window? Is it a shelf for toys? Also is that a mirror or a window behind the table in the first pic?

I think the thing you could do for your room is making more workable spaces. For example, decide what your living room is for and what do you do in it? For example, you might use it for eating, studying/working, using the computer, watching TV, making art etc. Make a list of all the things you use the room for. Then decide how many workable spaces you want. Ie. A place to relax and watch TV, a place to relax without the TV, a space to eat, a desk space for writing etc. Once you have done that let us know and I'll explain what happens next ;)

Gorgeous first house! I echo what others said. Definitely a rug there. And lower the clock. Over time, start buying some art that speaks to you. If you got this at 26, you'll be doing well!

That's not a shelf.. It's molding... I thought I looked nice with the wallpaper. And that's a hole/ window.. Not sure what to call it. It's handy.. I just put food there to serve

Ok I'm going to get a canopy looking valance for all my windows (color mix of chocolate, cream and a bit of green)

And a rug under the table in cream
A rug in living room
Lowering the clock
Calling an electrician to hide wires to all the TV junk
Cleaning fireplace- removing gas log-painting inside a light color-adding color glass in bottom and large river rock

I agree about the clock too, it's too high. I think you could add some decoration in white, candlesticks or photo frames... Btw, I love your colors!

Place the miss matched that are the tall ones across from each other. It will balance it better. If that is a mirror in the corner (It looks like it) I would remove that. The place looks good though. It just needs a bit more warmth.

When doing the window dressing ( the window just by the table not your ones in the other part of your room) start right at the top of the window not as in the pic i posted place it so its starting from the ceiling makes the window look bigger also will not block out any light as in the pic i posted place them outside the window your shutters are nice you dont need to get rid of them just to soften your look

Long drapes positioned outside of the actual window so you don't block the light and a rug under the table and you are done!

I think you could still define the spaces though. Lowering the clock and putting the shelf which is currently in the window (over on the other side near the fireplace) back to behind the dining table would look better. Where you currently have ornaments on top of that shelf through to the kitchen put on the brown wooden shelf furniture instead. Keep that space between kitchen and dining space clear of clutter so that it has purpose. In front of the sofa either put a coffee table or an ottoman and then put the lamp across on the other side of the window next to the sofa, again with purpose. The cover currently in front of the lamp could even be put in front of the fireplace for now to add definition. A rug under the sofa/coffee table and a rug under the dining table and chairs definitely add definition but also space.

The hole is called a pass-thru. The two matching chairs should be facing each other at the table it's off balance to have them side by side. In my opinion you DO NOT need a valance over your beautiful shutters...You do need a rug, a cabinet for the TV and try the clock over the fireplace. I don't think the wallpaper works in the dining area.
The shelf in front of the window needs to move somewhere else. What's going on with your couch and the wall behind?

You also might need a coffee table so please don't waste money on valances for your windows. Your windows are one of the best features of your whole place. Fix something that's broken

Cute corner! I agree about putting the two chairs that match across from each other. An area rug might help also.

The clock seems large for the space. I'd probably find another location for it. I don't mind the mismatched chairs at all but then I'm not a matchy-matchy girl. I would just alternate the taller chairs with the smaller ones, so that the two tall chairs are opposite each other and the two low chairs are opposite each other. I might try a rug thought the space may be small for one, but would definitely put a rug in what appears to be the living area where the brown love seat is.

Your chandelier is a bit small and way too high. Personally, I'd like to see a simple drum shade or something larger and not so traditional, But quirky/eclectic is ok too if you love it

DO NOT change your lovely wallpaper if its not broken do not fix it wow you have many suggestions lots for you to think about can not wait to see what you do you do not have to spend lots of money good luck with it all

It will block the patio door.. I like to think that having a path to the front door to the back is visually appealing

L B C, I think you have done a great job! Love that table & chairs, but I do agree that the 2 wooden chairs should not be side by side & the clock needs to be lowered. I'd move that huge floor vase to the outer corner of the dining area (the corner where the chair rail begins) so it doesn't get lost. Love your floors & I don't think a rug is necessary at all. Love those plantation shutters & wouldn't "dress" them in your dining area space. Nice light fixture that I think you should expand on with a tall clear glass vase on the table & a single stem from your floor vase trimmed so that the tip just almost touches a crystal dangling there. The negative comments re: the clock are because the black looks so bold in your photo compared to the delicate light fixture. I imagine that the contrast is less in person & if you like it, that is all that matters! ;) Keep having fun. You are making a home - not a showroom display, after all!

Lindsey, another thought is that it would work really well to carry the gray of your wall paper to the top half of the wall. One way would be to replace your awesome clock with a beautiful silvery-gray mirror that would also reflect your light fixture:

It looks like one of your chairs is upholstered in a fabric with words on it. If it's not too late to return one chair, I'd take the wicker one back & get another of the upholstered. Then use that as inspiration to stencil, paint, or apply a gray decal/ quotation over the window:

Lindsey, it's a dark piece of furniture in front of your window with a yellow dog and some other pieces on it. All I meant is if they are shelves it might be nice to keep the window clear of it, I love your windows and think keeping that space clear would really add space and light to that area, less clutter. The same with the pass-through. It's just a feng shui tip but if you're happy with the clutter keep it there! I think where your sofa is positioned is perfect and because you have so many windows around the room you may not need a mirror on the wall but you may want to accentuate the room with some colour (a different colour to the green on your walls) and that may be through framed posters, or canvas art either to the side of your TV or behind your sofa if you have a clear wall. I really love the green it really matches the furniture colours in the room including the fireplace.

Someone else mentioned lowering your chandelier. At first, I didn't see it because it was lost in the clock. A light over the dining table needs to be 30" from the table to the bottom of the light.
