Wicker versus teak for screened porch

I am in the process of purchasing furniture for our screened in porch and I am debating between wicker/woven and teak furniture. The colors of the porch are grays/whites/blacks for the floor decking/trim/house wall (respectively). I also have a haint blue ceiling. For wicker, I was considering a white finish with aqua or gray cushions. For teak, I was considering white or aqua cushions. My dilemma is that I really like the teak, but it initially comes as honey brown until it ages. Does anyone have any idea how long it will take teak to become silvery gray on a screen porch where it is protected from the elements? Also thoughts about mixing brown teak with grays/whites/blacks? Thoughts about wicker (I don't want it to look like Grandma's wicker, but also not too modern). Our house is a cape cod with medium gray vinyl siding.

White wicker option below...

Teak option below... (with white or aqua cushions)

Wicker and porches go "hand in hand"... What about gray wicker? :)

I would say that the teak will take about 2 years if it is in a covered area. We have it outside, so it became gray within one season. I wash it usually and leave it gray. I tried the protective oil for teak and it doesn't work. Teak is oily so all these protective finishes don't really work.

You may be able to find someone selling a teak set already weathered. I've seen some on Craigslist over the years.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! They are appreciated! Outshopping422... I have considered gray and may revisit it again thanks to your suggestion. Lloyd Flanders does a couple different grays and that might make it feel a bit more modern instead of white? Printesa... how much work is involved to keep the teak a nice gray? Is it blotchy or anything?

Since yours is in a covered area, there won't be much work keeping it clean. The blotchiness happens when it's outside and it gets dust, rain, snow,,etc I usually clean it in the morning with water and a brush

You can't go wrong with Lloyd Flanders...they are made well. I have one of their white wicker swings on my front porch for 18 years :)

Nandina Home and Design... I love that first photo... Just the vibe I'm looking for! My porch has dark gray azek decking. My trim is white and ceiling is haint blue. I am considering painting the house wall black (am a little scared to go that dark but I want a nice contrast to the floor so it's either black or white!). The porch faces west so it will get lots of afternoon light. Would love the gray wicker but maybe too dark if I have a black wall?

Teak will take about 2 years to grey in a covered area - unless you move it outdoors to speed up the process.

Another option is a wicker collection in a grey finish which will give you those grey tones you're looking for.

Kingsley-Bate Sag Harbor in driftwood is a popular collection, and Kingsley-Bate Paris Collection in Cobblestone is another nice pick which has some subtle teak accents.

Hi Nancy...the wicker furniture is from Lioyd Flanders their Fairhope Collection in "Fossil".
