Living Room Arrangement - Need advice!

My husband and I just bought a cute little house! We have a 50" TV that is definitely not going to fit in the built-in next to the fireplace. We were considering mounting it over the fireplace but I would rather not, as I like the fireplace by itself and fear that we may have to crane our neck to watch TV. I am thinking of putting the TV on an entertainment stand agains the far wall directly ahead as you walk in the front door. It seems to me that may be a furniture arrangement issue. The furniture in this room will include a longer sofa and two reclining chairs. I want the arrangement to be comfortable for TV viewing without blocking the entryway. Any ideas on how to solve this? Put some more shelves in the TV niche and style it with 1/3 books, 1/3 large decor items, and 1/3 open space. Put your large sofa on the long wall with a nice piece of art hung 5" above it. Flank the FP with the two recliners. TV will go on the wall between the windows, facing the FP so the recliners have the best view. If you do entertain guests with TV, mount it on a swivel base or wall mount it on an articulated arm so it can be adjusted for everyone to see better.

If you don't have the TV in the built in, what will you use it for? I'd recommend filling it in and putting a swivel tv stand that way it can be flush against the wall, but pulled out when needed. Hat way you aren't taking away from the fireplace. Hard to vision though without the current furniture.

Your layout works fine that way but you mentioned two recliners and it only shows one.
Your TV niche not used is not very attractive as is ,I would fill it in and use that wall for your larger unit.

Upon further consideration I think we would only use one recliner in the room to go with the sofa. Two recliners may interrupt the flow a bit too much. That is why I have only included one recliner in floor plan photos.

That space looks too small to house another piece of standing furniture like a wall unit. The TV is going to have to hang on a wall and the only place that makes any sense is over the fireplace which is the direction all of the furniture should be facing toward anyway. You don't want to put it on a wall that has windows on it because then you're looking into the light in order to watch it.
