No they look like a nice white washed white. These are not painted. They are natural Ramsjo white color.

Yes, we have. It is not a solid wood cabinet it has foil type finish. For the price i don't feel its the best product. There are several other IKEA cabinets in that price range that are solid wood doors. The nice thing about the solid wood doors is they are easily refinished or painted in several years, if and when you want to change the look of your kitchen.

Thanks. From what we can tell now the Ramsjo is now the only solid wood white, and I'm concerned about it being kind of pinky, but it sounds as though you've had good luck. The other option we're toying with is using the ikea bases and then semi handmade doors. Do you have any thoughts on that? I really appreciate your opinions --- wish you were in Vancouver (BC)

Semi Handmade is a good company with a nice line up of doors. A lot of their doors are veneered too. That would be a long haul for us to get up to BC :)

Just had Ramsjo installed for my kitchen remodel and am very disappointed with the pink. It's very noticable and I can seethe variations of pink in the different cabinet components. Im not a 'pink' person and my scheme did not include pink so am not sure what to do. Im waiting on the countertops which are white ceaserstone! A daylight max globe has helped a bit but its still pink. Wish Id have known before. Went to Ikea again yesterday and was told no one had complained of this before.

This Q&A thread has been very helpful! We just ordered these white Ramsjo cabinets. We have an open floorplan, and our home's color palette is gray (SW 6253 Olympus White) with some accents of yellow (SW 6687 Lantern Light) and blue (SW 6526 Icelandic). I'm thinking about a bold plum wall behind the cabinets (BM cc-26 Peerage). Think that would bring out the pink in the cabinets too much? Should I stick to one of our existing colors?

Hi, I am designing my cabinet layout and wondering if there is any sort of standard guideline for the amount of space left at the end of the bank of cabinets that end at a doorway? Like in the picture here - to the left of the stove. I do not have trim around the doorway.

Alyssa; if you stay away from the Plum color it will not look pink. Stay away from any reds, it will pick up the lighter color of the IKEA Ramsjo white cabinets. Otherwise your color scheme sounds great.

My cabinets are quite pink so do be very cautious. Perhaps buy one of the panels or doors prior to your 'order' and take it home to see how it looks in your light. Do a sample board of the main paint colour and sit it in your kitchen. Im disappinted that it is not whiter. I may yet paint them an actual white. I have very little actual natural light in my kitchen so I wish I had taken my own advice to you before I purchased the Ramsjo.

Marni; you do want some room between the walk way and the edge of the counter. You do not want to be turning the corner and be running into the cabinets. I am so disappointed with the pink color - crushed. My counters are grey and I cannot figure out what to do. they should not call these white! Any back splash color suggestions?

Nrrstuff, I feel your pain. I ended up getting a professional colour consultant out from one of the big paint companies here in australia. She advised me on whites to help diminish the pinkness which all up has worked somewhat but the pinkness still bugs me so getting them painted a white is still a possibility.
I agree totally, Ikea should not class this finish as a white and I still feel they have misrepresented the product to me as the sample I viewed in store was a lot whiter and a few years old by then...however the next time I went in it had gone to make way for their new kitchen installations...

Oh, that's frustrating! I'll say that my cabs do not look pink in my kitchen at all. They are quite white, actually. I wonder if it has to do with IKEA lots or you room's lighting, or paint color or what?

Alyssa, when I went into Ikea after their new remodelling in store the panels are now clearly pink. Its the colour of the wash. I cannot vouch for any other store of course other than the one I purchased the cabinets from in Melbourne. In hindsight I would not have chosen this product as I wanted a white kitchen.

I feel your pain! Yes they can look to pinkish, i think its the wood grain peeking through. I have learned that if you stay away from florescent lighting and keep reddish paint tents minimal around the cabinets they look pretty white like the kitchen above. Although in my experience over the years most white washed wood does have that pinkish tint. One of the best things with these Ramsjo cabinet doors is their solid wood and can be painted any color to suit your style and decor...

Thank you all for your input. To just have paid so much for cabinets that I don't like is brutal. I know some of it is the lighting but my kitchen light varies so much during the day from strong light on one side and the skylight. I have asked a color consultant to come to look tomorrow but it has been disappointing and a lot more trouble. The walls are currently white but that is not helping. If I had known I never would have purchased them. I don't want to have to now go and pay for re-paint.

If you bought the cabinets recently you might be able to exchange them at IKEA. They are usually pretty good with it that. I know that would be a major pain, but just a thought. If your consultant comes up with a good idea, please take photo with us and share the ideas. Thanks, John

Thanks John. I spent an hour on the phone with them tonight. I have consulted a lighting specialist. Ikea will take them back but I have already paid a contractor to put them up - would then have to pay him to take them down and virtually start from scratch on the doors, trim and hardware! The color specialist is meeting me there in the morning - will keep you informed.

Well done - looks great. Actually, I am wondering if this is a new 'dye lot' and more pink - or if it is just the lighting. also I have fairly dark grey counters which may be making it a lot worse. We had a team to review it and I will not be able to live with the pink tones so I am going to have to bit the bullet and pay for the dismantling and re-doing of the doors and facial. Ikea has so few choices that I will have to get the Lidingo as the other has a cream tone. I wonder why they sell this product. Thanks for your input - once that is done - the rest will fall into place.

I saw Pink tones in the strore, they were 20% off that door style so we went with it..Maybe becuase they are pink??
My husband said we can always spray them white... A LOT MORE WORK IMO Id rather pay more and not have to do additional work. They were delivered but I haven't been able to look at them yet.

I am trying to figure out paint colors to go with the white Ramsjo as well. The best option I found was putting in a large grey/white marble slab for the counter and backsplash. The variations with greys and whites works with the cabinet color. I have also been playing around with two paint colors. Farrow and Ball Wimborne White and BM Grey Owl.

You might try Dendra doors and just get custom doors for a good price right off the bat. http://www.remodelcabinetdoors.com There are so many colors that could work with the natural ramsjo white. Stay away from anything with red in it. Marble could work well Caracell.

I used Dendra Doors when I remodeled a 1950ish bathroom in my home. It was important to me to replicate the original cabinetry in the rest of the house in this remodel. Dendra not only matched the look of the white barn door cabinets, but found the hammered textured black hinges and knobs that were on the originals so that the feel is the same. I am very happy with the finished product and it was within my budget.
