2 thoughts: Zero landscaping of any interest, garage door should be painted a darker color taken from the brick. Needs deeper planters for landscaping & hardscape with movement.

A beautiful window planter underneath the window above the garage door would help immensely. I would have it painted a dark color, same as the garage door as suggested above me. Plant some beautiful colorful flowers!

How about a trellis over the garage?

Agree with the idea of painting the garage a deeper tone of the brick and add some color to the front door. Maybe a blue like this house.
Landscaping would add a lot to the appeal.

The problem is the space between the door and the window. I think the trellis idea might be a good one. It will reduce the space and add some interest. Do not paint your door too dark.

Landscaping will give you the biggest impact. Remove the tiny border bricks, and add curves to the planting beds, with taller shrubs flanking the window and lower ones under the window. I would also expand the hardscape between the driveway and the front steps to give your entryway a larger feel. The house is very vertical, and those changes will help balance it. Then paint the garage and trim a color that is deeper than the brick, and paint the door a coordinating color.

Ok, I have taken many of your suggestions and combined them. I like the lantern idea, but I couldn't make it look right in Photoshop. Since I'm a Texan, I just put a texas star above the door. ;) Is this looking better?

Nice garage color. Skip the window box. In place of the pink shrub, put a sidewalk from the left side of the front door curving out to the driveway, so your entryway opens up and it not blocked.

Do away with the window box and try shutters on the lower left side windows. Like to see if it balances the dark garage door. Though I see the window has a heading above it so shutters may not work if it sticks out a bit.

Your changes will all look great....especially painting the garage door and getting new landscaping. The " farmhouse look" will be hard to achieve with this house. If you seriously want to pursue that you will need an architect involved. Getting rid of that two-story, brick-columned entry would enable to add some kind of porch.

bring back the tree! you can still do some hardscape and other flowers, but leave the tree, just prune it. like the dark garage door. no window box. trellis might be ok. like the hanging lantern thing. on this order (but hang it from the arch?) you also need a nice heavy wood door like this one. that little white one you have is no good.

or maybe some sconces

you need to extend a walkway to the front door. do some type of paver or brick or something.

Beef up the woodwork around the front door. A large hanging lantern over the entry and a matching one centrally over the garage door would look good. Generous shutters to match the darkened garage door would give the facade character.

I think you are getting there, but a pergola would be very nice to break up that expanse of brick above your garage. It would be good if you could get something to grow on it, but it would look nice even without it. http://www.houzz.com/photos/query/pergola-over-garage/nqrwns

Hope you get the idea for my landscaping suggestions. I think that what you had shown was too low-growing, and you need some taller trees or shrubs given the size of your home. I think it looks more balanced. I drew in a pergola. See how it diminishes the bulk of the right side of the house by breaking it up?

Flower boxes are very hard to keep nice on a consistent basis, even when
they are easy to reach at ground level. And they can leak and stain your
brick. In hot weather they need to be watered twice daily, even in my own non-Texan climate. I tried them in my previous house and never again.

If it were me, I would knock out the upper window and put French doors leading onto a new front balcony made of horizontal wood slats (ipe wood maybe) that span from the entryway right column all the way to the right side of the house. I might have to build another brick column at that end. Can you picture it? I would do a wood front door and paint the garage door and window trim coastal gray blue.

I'm still looking for a lantern. The ones I am finding online are too small to make a statement. I added the pavers for extra curves, pergola above garage and greenery with different heights.

I'm confused about the roof? Is it light gray, are you replacing it, etc?

@Lori Sawaya - the roof is tan with shades of gray. We are not replacing the roof. The gray color changes are on the garage as suggested by @nmshea.

You need a dark painted trim. Pull a dark color from the brick that also harmonizes with the roof.

You can't go sticking various elements on that house to try to make it something that it's not. No window boxes, shutters, pergolas, etc. Just, no. I don't even think you could get shutters on there if you wanted to because of the quoins.

Don't try to get cute with the garage doors either. You have a traditional tract design and the best approach is to make each element look its absolute best.

Well-designed walkway and driveway. You can't do much with the actual house. I'd get some bids to redesign the walkway, porch and driveway. Again, you can't get too cute but flagstone or brick outlined concrete slabs can do a lot to bump up the curb appeal.

I like it with all the "accessories." It gives it more personality. But the question is do you like it?

The pavers don't need to extend that far down the driveway. Just in a quarter circle shape from the far side of the doorway curving out to the driveway. I wish I knew how to use these visual mockups. You don't need to widen your driveway - just add focus to the entryway.
