The tall bookcase throws off the balance of the room. Perhaps once you get artwork hung, it will help to balance it. In any case, I like prefer the bookcase and media console be on opposite sides of the room.

The room is symmetrical and I don't know if it makes a whole lot of difference. I'd wait (I know you don't want to) for the sofa to come before you do something that you might have to undo. Remember, by putting the book case there, you close off the possibility of flanking the door with matching/coordinating furniture or decor pieces.

can't - just bought the bookcase. There will be a huge piece of artwork over the couch and probably on the far right wall if the desk stays there, very similar to groveraxle pic. TY

Don't angle it - that will eat up floor space and telegraphs guests that you just don't have room for all of your furniture. You want drapes to take up much of the wall space by merely flanking the sliders, not covering them unless drawn closed.

Can't put the bookcase by the slider because it's 40" wide in a 36" space. Not sure if I want window treatments - here in Florida a lot of windows are bare. If I do, I can't put something behind the desk on the wall. Will post pic when done. thank you all.
