I would put a warm mushroom colour and introduce some fabric as texture to the windows. Pick it up by having more cushions/throw on couch Love the rug but might be too busy. I just think the room needs texture.

Long curtains would add some drama/texture. Your colour is already light so go brighter. You like the flower pillows? maybe a green? I agree that you should change out the carpet for something lighter or brighter. Maybe a cream/green shag throw rug.
