If you want the same variety and are patient, you could try cuttings; I think they grow relatively quickly. I saw them for the first time at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth perhaps 30 years ago, but I don't know if they are still there or which type they were. I have a friend who has had beautyberry/Callicarpa in the general area of Manchester, NH, though she can sometimes grow things that are not successful in my area 25 miles or so north. I have never seen them in Concord or Laconia, and I tend to notice the plants around me, so I have a feeling that they probably aren't hardy where I am. So perhaps it depends some on where you are in the state as well as the variety. I think the hardiest species is Callicarpa dichotoma, of which the one I've seen offered most commonly is 'Early Amethyst' though there are other selections as well. I don't think that the native C. americana is hardy here.

'Early Amethyst' is definitely hardy in the Manchester area. I've had one for about 15 years and another couple for probably five years.
