Whereabouts are you, Rich? Here in south/central Vermont the peepers are still sleeping, but I expect they'll be singing any day now, given the warm temperatures we've had.

Oh sorry I meant to put that in I am in South Weymouth but I think they are going back to sleep for a tad with this cold blast coming in.

That's about 40 miles north of me here in Plymouth, MA! I'll have to go across the street tonight before it turns cold and have a listen.

Every year when there is a post about "the spring peepers", I get so jealous. They were my favorites signs of spring at my former home. We don't have them here along the CT coast. There is something about the guys' calls that is so hopeful and positive. I know that they are just looking for love, but to me they signal the end of winter.

I'm surprised you don't have peepers in the wetlands near your river, Molie. Maybe they don't like running water? Or you have too many hungry herons and the like?

I went across the road twice today to listen - the first time the birds were yelling too loud to hear a possible frog, and the second time all I heard was the wind howling as it got colder. Not much chance for the next week.

Claire, we've been here 14 years and I've never heard the peepers along our tidal river is a tidal river. Sad but true.

Maybe it's too briny for them, Molie. I thought maybe there would be freshwater wetlands emptying into the tidal river. That's pretty much what we have here - a spring-fed pond emptying into a salt marsh, and the peepers sing from the pond wetland area.

I heard them the other night.... Wednesday, it must have been, on my way home from work. I was surprised to hear them so soon, and my first thought was to come here and post! (obviously I didn't lol).

Better late than never, Diggerdee! Still no frog songs here, but tomorrow the temperatures are supposed to skyrocket, so I'll be listening then.

They starting chirping again tonight first time I've heard them since March 1st.

Heard them today on my walk to town. They hadn't come out before the cold blast, so this is the first time this year I've heard them.

I'm hearing peepers tonight in Holbrook (just south of Boston) - just one or two of them - not a full chorus yet. And the wood frogs were quacking this afternoon.

I heard just a couple last night as I walked the dog. We've had crazy amounts of rain in the last half-week, and the temperatures are finally warming. I've been listening eagerly (mostly because of this thread), but last night was the very first I've heard them. :D

I finally heard peepers tonight here in Plymouth, MA! Not a resounding chorus but still a respectable rehearsal. I walked across the street about 7 PM to look down the hill at the nearby pond and wetland area.

I made a video mostly to record the sound, but also to give a feeling for the location. I may have missed a few nights listening, but it's been cold and rainy and nights have been close to freezing, so this may be the first appearance here this year.

I heard a chorus of peepers late yesterday afternoon, not here at my house halfway up the mountain (still too early for peepers here), but down on the main road that runs parallel to Otter Creek. They were singing their little froggie hearts out! What a welcome sound that was!

First heard them on April 11 but not a lot of them. I only heard them because it was warm enough to have the porch door open. When I went out in the early evening to close it, I first listened and they were singing!

And now the peepers are singing here!
