How does one decide the size of outdoor sconces?

I am building a large bungalow, I am curious to know how big/small the sconces should be on either side of the garages. Any thoughts? The exterior will be a dark board and baton and stone... It will have timber framing and large wood posts on the porch.

I was looking for front door lights and found myself on shadesoflight.com while there, they said that a front door light should be 1/5 the size of the front door. I bet if you went on that website, they would also tell you how big the light should be for your garage.
