I live in California ( (94560) and planted a year old mango tree in march last year. It got about 8 months in ground before the winter came in 2016.

I covered my tree with plastic and also put mulch on the tree roots.

Now that the winter is over, I see the trunk of the tree from top to little above roots dead, but area close to roots looks live. Do you think ( with your experience and expertise) this tree will be able to get new growth?
