The glyphosate products, Roundup is one, are broad spectrum poisons that will kill any plant they are sprayed on, including grasses. Some of those poisons are specific to broad leafed plants, 2,4,D, Dicambra, etc. while there are others specific to grasses.

The mix above has been around before and it is a broad spectrum plant killer that will harm grasses, flowers, and any other plant it is sprayed on.

Yes, Frank. Roundup kills everything. I did point out the difference between broad leaf and grass herbicides. Your concoction is not a mixture which will differentiate. But there's one way to prove it to your satisfaction .....

btw, the above recipe is not a particularly effective approach either. Table vinegar is a contact herbicide - it dessicates/burns foliage but won't kill roots and is best applied with sunlight. It is also not very strong so multiple applications may be necessary. Epsom salts - magnesium sulfate - is often used as a plant fertilizer (also rather ineffectively), so don't know why that was included. I believe the initial recipe for this concoction just listed table salt, which would be far more effective but will also have a far longer impact on the soil as well and not a good one!!

And as stated, this "remedy" will not differentiate between weeds or desired plants. It will damage any plant it comes into contact with.

I tested it. It doesn't work very well, is not "chemical free", and is not cheaper than concentrated commercial herbicides.

There are five basic kinds of herbicides:

• Broad spectrum ... kills almost all plants that it contacts.

• Broad-leaved plant killers ... does not kill most grassy plants, although it can damage some of them.

• Grassy plant killers ... does not kill most broad-leaved plants, although it can damage some of them.

• Pre-emergent ... prevents seeds from successfully germinating, but does not harm established plants. Usually short action and needs reapplying every year.

• Soil sterilizers ... not only kills everything, but prevents new plants from growing for months to years.

Whatever you use, you have to READ THE LABEL before you start applying the herbicide, and follow the directions for using it.

You can look up- the names of the herbicides online and read the labels at the manufacturer's website before you buy, and see if it's something that will work in your situation.

I have used Ortho weed be gone I guess that would be my best bet
