Panel over fridge and range help!

I originally had 36" x 9" decorative panels over the fridge and the range.

However, my KD just told me that Medallion Silverline only carries that type of panel 35 1/2" x 6 1/4".

She suggested that I attach it to a flat 36" x 9" panel and put it on that way.

Has anyone done this and does it still look ok? Any other suggestions?

You are paneling the range? What range allows panels? Or allows a panel to be over it?

Are you talking about paneling the fridge doors?

    What is 36" x 9"?

You aren't getting responses because it is hard to tell what you are talking about.

I'm paneling over the range hood. There is a 9" space from the top of the range hood to the crown.

Same with the fridge, there will be a 9" gap over the fridge that the KD was going to fill with a decorative panel. Except the only option is a 6" decorative panel. The issue being, what do I do with the remaining 3"?

Do u have pics of what you are contemplating? Can u just build up the crown to fill the gap?

I don't have pics of the gap but you can see the panels that will be over the fridge and range hood. If I build up the crown, won't I have a 6" crown in only those two places?

Do you have 8' ceilings or lower?

    8' ceilings

Are the panels deep to cover the depth of the hood and fridge?

Hmm you should have room for 24" cabinets over range hood and fridge no?

    I mean 24" high x 36" wide for fridge and 24" high x 30" wide range

    36" range + 30" clearance + 18" hood + 3" crown = 87"

    84" fridge + 3" crown = 87"

Both are only 9". Depth of the top part of hood is 12" and for the fridge 24"

Mawizz, the fridge is a built-in at 84" tall.

Ok I just looked at the drawing. For the fridge then you would have a couple inches gap above fridge where the panel does not come down all the way correct? But the flat panel would be there if I underdstand it correctly. I think it might be minimal enough to not be that big of a deal. If you centered it top to bottom it would be less noticeable but you can't because the top of the panel will be in line with the cabinet door panel to the right of fridge. I still think it might be minimal and not at eye level which is good. In looking at the drawing tho I'm not sure it looks that great with 2 flat panels on that wall maybe you could get it down to one. Another option above fridge...did you check with fridge manufacturer to see if they have a filler panel in stainless ? I might consider that instead of the panel in that place? Thoughts?

regarding the one over the range hood what is the height of the hood?

@smm5525, yes it would come out to the depth of the fridge.

@mawizz, the KD is suggesting I put a smaller door panel on top of a flat panel to fill the gap. Looks like that's my best option. I just thought maybe there might be other solutions worth considering. I'm not sure if I want a steel panel all the way up to the crown.

The height of the hood is 18" and the top part of the hood has a 12" depth so that it would be flush with the other upper cabinets.

Yes that's what I thought so you might have and extra 2-2 1/2 " flat panel showing on bottom just above fridge...I would say that's a pretty good option. Yes no stainless steel to the crown!

I was trying to find a pic but can't find a good one. The one below isn't that great because the bottom gap is only just slightly larger on bottom where you see a little more flat panel than at top. But it looks great and yours wil too! You won't even notice an extra inch or it not covering the whole flat panel and the flat panel is way better than a gap! I say go for it!

Does that cabinet mfr have a semi custom or custom line that you can order just the panels from?

Or can you order it as a drawer front?

Drawer fronts are a great idea.

I'll ask about the custom line and drawer fronts. Those are great ideas. Thanks so much for the suggestions!!

My daughter put a small cabinet above the fridge only 9 inches tall and has a door that flips up. She stores a very large platter there.

Great idea about the drawer front!

I was also going to suggest a flip door 9" cabinet for storage as Karenseb stated above.
