Help Adding Character to Plain Garrison Colonial

We need to paint the house this Spring, but I'm thinking we need a change up to add more depth and character. Questions:
- paint: warmer dark gray (BM Amherst Gray) with blue door (BM Blue Wythe), white trim?
- shutters or no shutters?
- add a covered front stoop porch?
- landscaping - its blah...
- on garage add a cupola with copper top, windows and light and copper weathervane?

Great house! I wouldn't go too dark with the gray. A blue door with white trim sounds nice, but I also like your current colors. A portico for the entry would be stunning. In time, think about garage doors with glass panes across the top that mimic the ones in your windows. I like your shutters and that they're the correct size...something you don't often see!
